I thought we would have to read the whole book before playing & you don't, but it IS very helpful to read the book first. The board game part of the game could be more durable, looks like a seam is tearing, but my 7 year old loves this game and wants to play all the time. You have to know KNOTS from the book often, which even with the book are hard for us. But very cool game, i hope the next edition they improve on it a bit, but overall we do love it and it's one of the coolest games out there. Well, this is my first Amazon review, but I truly was inspired by how much fun we had with this game. We have two boys, ages 9 and 11 and we played the game for the first time today. Each turn is a new game...from playing squares to knowing the basic rule of construction...we had a blast. If your children love Cub Scouts, the great outdoors, or studying the world around them, they'll enjoy this game. But don't get too comfortable, this game requires actual movement!

I can't believe how much fun we've had with this game. It's not your typical board game, it gets you up and moving, tieing knots, making paperairplanes, performing feats, and brain challenges. I bought this game as a gift filler and am so happy I did. The boys love that the girls have to say "Boys are Fantastic, Girls are elastic" in order to play.Customer Review: Fun Game

I purchased this game for my 7 year old son and he loves it. It is a very active game, which is great for a boy with a lot of energy. For instance, the game involves quickly making a paper airplane and then seeing who's will fly the furthest. It has variety of activities involved, and is truly a game that a family can enjoy.Customer Review: Excellent toy on its own, but great with the book, too

My son is just getting into reading, but he loved the book that goes along with the game and we love playing the game as a family--even without having read the book. Although he's on the young age for the book, he was still able to read it and we are able to play the game without any problems.
