Toys and Games Reviews of Star Wars The Clone Wars MonopolyCustomer Review: My 6 year old son loves this game! Summary: 4 Stars
We ordered this game because my son enjoys the regular Monopoly and loves Star Wars the Clone Wars. He begged me to get it when he saw the board on the computer.
The play figures include Anakin, Obi Wan, Asaii Ventress, Asoka, a clone trooper and General Grievous. The properties also have names which your child would be familiar with if they watched the Clone Wars cartoons (although some are very difficult to pronounce-ah how do you pronounce Toydaria?). The best part? My son is learning how to add not just by adding up the dice rolls but by counting out the money. He is now easily adding up hundreds and tens. If your child is easily distracted, don't get this game. If your child is advanced for his age, and likes Clone Wars, it is a great buy. I could not find this game in toy or department stores.
Customer Review: Great for clone wars fans! Not exactly the same as regular monopoly Summary: 4 Stars
I bought one for my 8-year old son and one for my 7-year old nephew. We play it all the time. The boys love the different characters and features (like Republic "credits" instead of dollars)and it really shows off their math skills. The instruction booklet gives several different play options beyond regular monopoly, all revolving around either a Jedi or Sith theme, which I think will intrigue the boys as they get older and don't need Mom to play along as much. We just play straight-up monopoly right now. One caveat: although the booklet gives you the basic overview of standard monolopy, a few things are missing altogether (like the Free Parking kitty) and some of the finer rules. So, if you aren't up to speed on your Monopoly rules, you might need further information.
Customer Review: An old favorite updated for a new generation Summary: 4 Stars
We all grew up with Monopoly, but times have changed and kids like to look for characters the recognize now.
Monopoly Clone Wars provides the same basic game, but with new figures (Clone Commander Rex, Asajj Ventress, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, General Grievous, and Ahsoka Tano) 28 new properties, also Sith and Ransom spaces instead of community chest and chance. There are some optional Star Wars rules included, but we haven't had a chance to try out yet. Overall it's been a fun game.
If you're looking for a gift for the Star Wars fan or Monopoly collector in your life maybe this is it.
Customer Review: A long time ago, in a kitchen not so far away... Summary: 4 Stars
I swear we must have half a dozen versions of Monopoly in our house. From the standard board game, and its specialty-market cousins, to the Star Wars CD Rom version for the family PC. Well, our son is big into the new Clone Wars series, so he received this for Christmas. Not sure what to say... its Monopoly.
As with other branded editions, Park Place and Chance have been replaced with appropriate substitutions. The money is Republic Credits and the figures are straight out of this chapter of the Star Wars saga. As a collectible, or one more flavor of Monopoly in YOUR family game closet, its a winner.
Customer Review: my 7-year old son's review: Summary: 4 Stars
When I came back from school I found a box sitting in front of the door of my house. It was the Star Wars Monopoly! I wanted to play it with my babysitter, Nick, and so I did. The game was very, very good. The figures are Ventress, General Grievous, Ashoka, Anakin, Obi Wan and Captain Rex. Instead of houses and hotels, there are settlements and factories. It's a lot of fun to play and you can learn about math and Star Wars facts.
