Toys and Games Reviews of Star Wars Light Saber Battle GameCustomer Review: 36 Year Old Jedi Seeks Employment Summary: 5 Stars
I wanted this game for myself and got it from my girlfriend for my birthday. I plugged it in and was cracking up because it truly is a joy to play this game. Any child who grew up in the 70's secretly dreamed of being a Jedi (well ok, most boys did, but I'm a girl so I guess I'm an exception). This game is awesome. It's SO much fun. It's actually really hard at first to get the hang of it, but after a few days of playing with it, you get the hang of it. You get to train before each level which means you have to master a move by one of the Jedis such as Qui Gon, Obi Wan, Mace Windu, Yoda. The moves give you a significant advantage when fighting opponents because you cause much more damage if you use them in the levels and your force power can be replenished when you use them. The hardest one to master is Obi Wans which is this move where you spin your saber. I've done it over and over and can never get it to work properly during a level. But truthfully, you can get by using the other moves.
What's interesting is you actually have to come up with a "style" of fighting that is all your own. I actually found that using longer, more graceful swings killed more enemies than just randomly and quickly swinging your saber. There is something very satisfying about swinging that saber and seeing droids fall away or their heads being cut off with a well placed swing. I know I must look completely insane playing this game at my age, but it's seriously a good work out (your arm will be KILLING you the next day).
The graphics are bad and old fashioned, but I'm sure it's the new technology and this problem will be improved upon. It took me awhile to figure out how to block saber hits from my opponents (the key is small, slight wrist moves to block). I wish the saber was a tad longer and that it had the "force feedback." I actually went and took out my plastic, electronic Anakin Skywalker Lightsaber and tried to play the game with it and it kind of worked! It was so cool to "feel" the hits, so I hope they incoorporate that into the next generation of this game. The longer lightsaber would be really cool to play with, so even though it worked sporadically with mine, I had to switch back to the little one to get the game to work properly. Even I found myself getting closer to the tv sometimes wanting to "hit" the droids. You really forget you're playing against a two dimensional screen!
In the end, this is a great game that really has me excited about the possibility of of this type of game in the future. Any Star Wars fan will love it, no matter your age.

Simply plug in the training droid and hoist the rather dinky sword as you follow along on the TV adventures. You get a chance to fight against an array of bad guys like Jango Fett, Darth Maul, Emperor Palpatine (don?t let appearances fool you, he?s spry), and Anakin Skywalker while you fight alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn, Mace Windu, and others. --Charlie Williams
