Customer Review: What a cool find at a thrift store!!
Summary: 4 Stars
Saw this at a thrift store for $3 and recognized the shape to be a 'blaster' from Star Wars, despite the friendly white/blue color scheme. Figured it was a 'plug and play' system for TV's like those PacMan joysticks, so, after testing the batteries, I thought I'd risk the three bucks and give it a shot.
What a fun little game! I'm 31 years old, and was quickly reminded of Duck Hunt from when I was a kid. And my infant son laughed hysterically watching the TV and listening to the sound effects as I played. Now if only I can find an instruction manual, because I couldn't quite figure out (in the heat of battle) if my blaster was running out of charge, and what I was supposed to be doing, prompted to jiggle the directional controller back and forth, until I was KILLED by the Insurrectionists.
Looking forward to giving it to my son when he's old enough.
As for 'educational value'? I'm a bit of a firearms fanatic, and took quite well to snap shooting at the droids when they ran across the screen, using the toy blaster's sites. It seemed accurate enough for me, although those damned Super Battle Droids can be pretty tough to put down sometimes. Lol. I figure this game will do quite well with teaching kids familiarity with form and quick aiming with something about the size of a submachinegun.
Fun toy. Definitely worth the peanuts I paid for it.
