Toys and Games Reviews of Star Wars Clone Wars Force Action Lightsaber OBI-WANCustomer Review: Better than the ones that don't pop out? Summary: 4 Stars
The only problem I have with this toy - it's not bright enough. We had a couple of the older lightsabers that ran on 'C' batteries, these run on 3 AAA's. I was actually happy to discover this until I realized the thing isn't very bright unless the kids play in the dark - which they could do anyway. And these are spring activated, they pop out of the handle. Another issue - half the time when they pop out, they don't turn on, and you have to activate the light and sound by pressing the button again(same button, there's just one on the handle). If your kids would be fine with the cheaper ones, just go with that. They seem sturdy, but we just bought them, so only time will tell. If you need light, sound, and spring activation, go with this lightsaber, but you'll plunk down at least twice as much money.

Customer Review: Fun Toy, But Don'T Expect A Realistic Prop!!: Safety Might Be An Issue! Summary: 3 Stars
For $15, I wasn't expecting much and I saw it in a store before I purchased. It was pretty obvious this was a kid's toy. It's really just a fancy version of the classic carnival/circus toy with the retractable glowing blade. This one is spring-loaded which makes it more fun and makes sounds that sound somewhat, but not quite, light-saber-ish.
I would caution supervision for children. Although there are warnings on the toy about not aiming it at someone when you open it or poke people with it....what kid WON'T?? It's a toy sword!
There are cheaper toy versions that are not spring-loaded which might be a bit safer for kids. Finally, I've recently seen this toy for $15.00 and I've seen sale prices lower. You might want to comparison shop.
Customer Review: Very Solid Electornic Light Saber... Two exception... Summary: 5 Stars
The build and light/sound quality of this is great. Takes a good beating and has a realistic set of "turn-on", "turn-off", "swing", and "clash" sounds. Compared to the Rubies costume sabers, this model is rock-solid (Rubies' accessories are quite junky, even if they are cheap).
Two exceptions: 1) The lowest segment of the "blade" never retracts, I think this was to make room in the handle for the sound and motion electronics, but I've seen newer models that retract completely, 2) It turns off after about 3 minutes of not being used... this is great if you're in constant saber battles, but really? couldn't this have been a bit longer?
All and all, a great toy w/o the price of the replica models.
Customer Review: Good price on a more realistic lightsaber Summary: 5 Stars
I bought all 4 versions of these lightsabers and they have been a huge hit in our house. This one glows (blue), makes humming sounds (one for idle and another for contact), and feels like a pretty durable toy (I have 3 young boys so it has to be pretty tough).
The only con I see with this toy is that the spring-loaded feature can be dangerous if it's pointed at anyone because it just jumps right out, and the plastic on it is not some soft, cushiony sort of plastic so I know it could cause some damage.
Even so, it is a great toy and a great value for something that my young kids can enjoy with their dad.
Customer Review: Good for the price Summary: 4 Stars
When you are searching for lightsabers, the prices are a little crazy. We bought one as a gift for someone and didn't want to spend $80 or more for something that will be used as a toy. This toy runs on the large side. It's not for little kid hands. I would recommend it for 10 and up. The saber does spring into a wand but some of the pieces get stuck. The sounds and lights are cool. Overall, it did what kids would want it to do.
