Toys and Games Reviews of Star Wars Clone Wars Captain Rex Helmet

Customer Review: Not that impressed
Summary: 1 Stars

My 6 year old wanted this for Christmas REALLY bad. I thought it would be PERFECT gift because my son loves Captain Rex from the Clone Wars and loves to dress up as a clone but didn't like the masks. This helmet seemed to be the answer to the problem. Unfortunately, while I think the manufacturers tried to make it wearable, it's just not. Even with the head straps on the inside of the helmet that allow you to adjust the width AND height, it just is too bulky and wobbly on his head. Whenever he tries to run with it, he has to hold it with one hand. Also, it comes apart easily and it takes an adult to get it back together. He still wants to keep it though, and it has become a decoration on top of his dresser and something he loves to show to his friends but that is it. The reason I ranked it 1 star was just because it never gets played with. Great concept, but needs to be made better.

Customer Review: Just a little too big
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this helmet for my 5 year old son for Christmas and he just loves it! He's a huge Star Wars fan so it was a must have toy. The only problem is that it is a little too big. You can adjust the straps on the inside, but it almost needs a chin strap or something to keep it in place on his head. It's heavy enough that when he's not holding it, it slides sideways on his head. He has to hold it in place with one hand to keep it in place, but it doesn't seem to bother him. I do wish it was in one piece right from the box too. His little sister was able to snap it apart on her own (although she has a tendency to break toys) so that wasn't good, but we put it back together easily. Regardless, I gave it 4 stars because he absolutely loves it and that's really all that matter in the end!

Customer Review: Captain Rex plastic helmet pieces
Summary: 3 Stars

Yea, my title is right. This thing snaps together rather cheaply to form the helmet. From the box it looks fully put together, but it is not. There are 4 more big pieces that must come together to form the helmet. If your kid drops this helmet more than 2 feet, the entire helmet will come apart which then requires a parent to put back together again. The quality of the helmet is also not all that great. The pieces that you put together are not flush. We bought two and noticed a difference even between the two. Do not think that this helmet is of any sort of quality to withstand heavy usage... and be prepared to snap this thing together often. Also, what is with the Yoda message when you push the button. Shouldn't all the voices coming out of this helmet be Captain Rex?

Customer Review: It is what it is...
Summary: 3 Stars

This was a present from "Santa" this year for my 9 year old. It's a typical hard plastic toy. There is some minor assembly required but snaps together well, solidly. The microphone needs to be close to the mouth for full effect which is difficult to do. Mine had some of the blue paint sprayed onto the eye shield but not enough to affect vision. Batteries were included so that's a nice hassle to not have to deal with immediately. Head gear can be manipulated so that it fits fairly well, conforms to one's head, I would even think for a fairly young child. If this is something your child really wants, or as a costume for an adult, I would have no problem saying go for it. Overall, I'd say it's reasonably well designed.

Customer Review: A great buy, if you get a good deal.
Summary: 5 Stars

My son got this for Christmas from Santa and loves it. Since it is "one size fits all" it can get a little tricky to get it to fit his head (and his younger brothers when he decides to share) just right so it feels secure. Plus the voice box to talk into is a little low, so we can't totally get it to sound like he wants it to without holding it just so. His 2 year old brother has taken off the antennae piece lots of times and so far it's gone back on without a problem or any obvious wear. We got it on sale for about $20, and it was worth it. I don't think I would have paid much more than that for it (but I am a total budget shopper). Overall its been great and we would definitely recommend this to any stars wars fan.
