Toys and Games Reviews of Star Wars Clone Wars Captain Rex Helmet

Customer Review: Capt. Rex Rox
Summary: 5 Stars

Yesterday I bought this Captain Rex helmet for [...]. The helmet comes in several parts, so it must be assembled. Trust me when I say: take the time to snap it together right! This helmet will NOT fall apart if it is assembled correctly. It took a fair amount of pressure to snap the pieces into place, but that also means it won't come apart while it's being used. (It also takes a few trys to get the head strap fitted right.) The helmet's antenna has a light on it that glows red when switched on. Another cool feature is the clone com. system. While pressing a botton on the side of the helmet, the user can speak through a mic that makes your voice sound (slightly) like a clone. Some reviews say that the mic is too low, but it can be ajusted towards the wearer's mouth if needed. The helmet also has several pre-recorded phrases spoken by Capt. Rex, Anakin, and Yoda. In case you are wondering, the visibility is fairly decent while wearing the helmet. (I'll admitt I tripped on a low object once.) Overall, this is great for yourself, a gift, or anyone who likes Star Wars! (I'm gonna get one for my friend as soon as possible!)Great buy!

Customer Review: 5 stars for fun but 4 for assembly
Summary: 5 Stars

The helmet looks even better in person then in the picture. It's large enough that an adult could even wear it. It was one of my 8 year old sons favorite toys he received this last Christmas, and he even still plays with it (we all know how some toys seem to get cast aside and never used for more then a day). I give this toy 5 stars for fun and it's worth every penny.

My only issue was the difficulty on putting it together. I didn't even realise when I bought it that it wasn't all together. The back of the helmet is not yet attached to the front so that you can insert a plastic adjustable head piece inside. This piece is what a persons head rests on so that the large helmet itself is not resting and wobbling around on kids heads. It lets you set it perfectly to the wearers head size. However I to use some serious elbow grease to get the back piece and the front piece attached. Probably would have been simple for someone a bit stronger to do. But it's very well made and not something that will just break in half if a kid was to fall on it.

Customer Review: Too Bad it's So Big
Summary: 2 Stars

All my 5 yr old wanted from Santa was this helmet. When he finally opened it and put it on his head it was huge. For a small kid, this helmet is made large enough for an adult (which we confirmed when my husband put it on and wore it comfortably). I find the helmet sitting on the floor more then on my son's head. Because it's so big, the microphone inside is too far down to capture my son's voice. It's very heavy so when he does put it on he has to hold one side to help balance it on his shoulders. For the first few weeks, he only pulled off the side piece and pretend played he was Capt Rex. For the $30+ dollars we spent on the helmet, it's a real disappointment.

Cons:
*Weight, very heavy
*Size of actual Helmet, too big (unable to adjust to make it smaller)
*Microphone, too low due to the size of the helmet and unable to pick up sound

Pros:
*Very durable
*Voice, when the microphone does pick up a voice it sounds like Capt Rex
*Pre-Recorded sounds are of good quality

Customer Review: Great toy for your Star Wars obsessed child
Summary: 5 Stars

My 5 year old son has been wanting this Star Wars Captain Rex helmet ever since he saw it, but I was hesitant to get it for him based on the earlier reviews. I took a chance anyway and am glad I did. The voice changer is lots of fun, and the light up antenna adds to the realism of the helmet. There are several other voice commands that the helmet can make, including commands from Yoda, Anakin, and others in the Clone Wars universe. Although the helmet is somewhat bulky, I had no trouble adjusting the headband so that it would fit my son's head snugly. He is an average sized 5 year old and it fits him fine, while there is still room to adjust it for a smaller or larger head. He has a Clone Trooper Leader Rex Child Costume and wears the helmet with it for the full effect.

Pros:
* voice changer works great and makes it fun to issue your own commands
* helmet looks very realistic
* headband is easily removable to adjust for different sized children

Cons:
* bulk and weight

Customer Review: Great for Clone Wars Fans
Summary: 4 Stars

My son really wanted this Captain Rex Helmet as a gift, but I didn't think it was worth spending $40-$50 bucks on it. However, when I found it on Amazon for $15(!), I jumped at the chance! And it was a hit with him. He is a huge Clone Wars fan, and to get something that would make him look and sound like Rex was a role-playing dream come true for him.
It's a nice-looking toy, and it seems pretty durable. The sound effects are pretty cool, and the voice synthesizer is decent. My only two qualms about this item are that 1) the effects are very loud, and there is no volume control for them, and 2) the helmet doesn't sit very well on his head. Granted, he's got kind of a large head, but adjusting the straps and getting it to fit right and sit at the proper angle is a major chore.
However, he still enjoys the toy, and it wasn't a major investment when buying it from Amazon, so I'm more or less happy with it.
