Toys and Games Reviews of Star Wars Clone Trooper Voice Changer HelmetCustomer Review: my nephew loved this Summary: 5 Stars
My K-age nephew loved this "Star Wars hat" before he even knew it had the voice changer. I had given a Darth Vader helmet to his slightly older brother a year earlier and they immediately exchanged presents amongst themselves. Right gifts, wrong nephews. I should mention that I am a preschool teacher and halted momentarily when I came to the question about educational value. It is not the alphabet, but I had to say that it is educational because young children learn through play. Dramatic play is one of the ways they develop abstract thinking. And he played and played with this. Give a few books, as I did, to appease your conscience, if you must. Better yet, join in the play. I also enjoyed saving the $100.00 I would have spent additionally if I had actually walked into a Target store instead of buying this through Amazon. Great gift. Right nephew. Great shopping experience.
Customer Review: Do not buy this helmet Summary: 1 Stars
My son was very excited about buying the helmet. He wanted to wear it for Halloween. First of all the helmet did not stay together well, when you put it together. Second, the helmet does not fit ANY child (or even an adult) properly. Your eyes do not reach the window, your chin does not reach the chin rest and you can't press the botton inside the helmet to make the voice changer work. This is true even though they give you a plastic adjuster to try to make the helmet fit. The helmet is huge and awkward. In addition, the voice changer does not really change your voice. It just makes a static sounds that plays over your own voice. We were extremely disappointed in the helmet, especially since my son was expecting to wear it for Halloween. If I had kept the reciept and the box I would have returned it. Please don't waste your money on this purchase.
Customer Review: Good Helmet and good Halloween costume! :D Summary: 5 Stars
This helment is made to fit an adult. Other customers bought it for younger children and said it looks awkward, which it does. My 15 yr. old son wore the helmet with the "deluxe" Clone Trooper costume for Halloween and got a lot of praise. People actually stopped him on the street to take pictures of him! If you want your older child to look like a realistic Clone Trooper, you should buy this item. You don't need to stick with the cheap helmet mask that comes with most costumes. The helmets at the costume shops cost about $49 and does not have a voice changer, they also are not made to last. The quality of this helmet is excellent. Buy it from Amazon, it will arrive in pristine condition as opposed to the helmets on display at the stores which are covered with sticky germs with the boxes ripped to shreds.
Customer Review: Fun for kids but seems to be made for adults Summary: 3 Stars
First off, this is a super cool item. My daughter and all her boy and girlfriends play with this all the time. That said, it is HUGE and even after adjusting the inside fittings, the eyes and mouthpiece are too far apart for a normal kid. She actually has to raise the whole head up about 2-3 inches for her mouth to be near the "voice" changer for her to talk into it. The buttons to hear the clone voices are fun but she gets annoyed she has to raise the head up just to hear her voice. Overall it is very sturdy but they should have made a size available for kids ages 5-10 years old - the other reviewer is right in that it seems to be made for teens/adults. My daughter is a very tall 7yr old and it is way too big for her. Still, she uses it all the time!
Customer Review: Big Disappointment, Wait for Product being Released Oct. 16 Summary: 1 Stars
I feel so bad for my son, who is almost nine. He bought this product with money he's been saving up, and it's a total disappointment. It is unfair that it says "voice changer" on the front, because it's just an amplifier. I see that there is a second clone trooper helmet being released next month. It actually has a voice changer with the radio crackles, etc. I am trying to get my son, who is crying in his room right now, to let me take the first one back and place an on-line order for the newer one so that we will be sure to get it before it sells out - and before Halloween, God willing! It really angers me when false advertising is used to get little kids to spend their money and disappoint them.
