Toys and Games Reviews of SORRY! SlidersCustomer Review: A bit of a stretch from the original Sorry!, but still fun ... Summary: 4 Stars
My 6 y/o got Sliders for Christmas. My wife and I played it before we made our son play it for real. On Christmas night he played his own version with his 4 y/o sister and their uncle.
There are actually four different variations of the game you can play. Each is fun in its own right though all build off of a commonality: you slide your colored playing piece onto a circle with numbered rings on it. You move smaller pieces on a smaller board to keep track of your earned points. The person who gets all of those smaller pieces to 'Home' first wins. Each player takes turns sliding his/her pieces so there is ample opportunity to knock your teammates out of the game. The foundation of the game builds hand-eye coordination as well as strategy.
We purchased Sorry! Spin for my son as well. It's more straightforward and closer to the original Sorry! than is Sliders. That said, both are fun and worth purchasing since they provide a very different experience. Look for them on sale; well worth the money!
Customer Review: Sorry Sliders is Sorry. Summary: 1 Stars
I know I am not in the majority here, it seems that this game is quite popular. However, I must disagree. This game is lame and not clever at all. It's rules are random and boring. The construction is flimsy and typical of today's games, the black bumpers don't stay on at all, the rest is cardboard and the rails don't even go together or snap together in a clear way, they hump on eachother is the only way to describe it, they lay upon eachother - come on, lame. I was so disappointed, I felt totally ripped off and am going to turn right around and sell the game, it is such an embarrassment, it's almost as if the game's creators sat around drunk one night and came up with the rules. Sorry to be such a grinch, I can't believe everyone gave it such good reviews, but I like smart games that feel like some thought went into them, even if it is only for my 3 and 5 year olds.
Customer Review: It's just ok Summary: 3 Stars
I have two boys, ages 8 and 11, and they seem to like this game but they get bored with it fairly quickly. The board is made out of cheap, flimsy cardboard and the game pieces are very small and can get lost easily. Take extra care in putting it away immediately after the game is over so that you don't lose any of the pieces like we did this past year. A more substantial game with similar strategy and hand-eye-coordination such as Carrom, Tabletop Shuffleboard or Rebound might be a litle better choice.
Merry Christmas!
Customer Review: I'm sorry I bought this game Summary: 2 Stars
After reading the reviews on here, I was excited to purchase this game for my two kids (7 and 8). As a family, we play the original 'Sorry' hours on end.
We put the board together (it was not too difficult), read the instructions, and then played a 'round'. Everyone was pretty much like, "Is that it?" It was a BIG letdown.
With four players, we finished the game after two rounds (about five minutes). We kept thinking we were not fully understanding the instructions---but nope---that was it.
I think this game would be fun for kids between 4-6 (with an adult to add up the score after each round). Adults will get bored very quickly, and if your pre-teen kids are experienced with other board games---they will probably get bored of the game very early as well.
Customer Review: Lots of fun for variety of ages Summary: 4 Stars
My 8 year old got this game for Christmas and we have played it several times just in the past 2 days. I am able to play it with her as well as her 4 year old sister and we all have fun. The little one needs help with the sccring aspect but is great at the sliding part. It takes a little time to put it together initially, but once the main parts are put together it only takes a minute or 2 to set it up each time you play. For those that say there are a "million" parts to put together - it really is not that hard; my kids can do it on their own. While it IS cardboard it is quite thick and if your family is not throwing it around then it should last for years.
I would personally recommend it for someone with kids of varying ages preschool to grade school.
