Toys and Games Reviews of Rubik's Cube Brain Teaser Puzzle with Helpful HintsCustomer Review: Rubik's Cube shocks your brain Summary: 5 Stars
The Rubik's Cube is a marvellous puzzle, but also a toy and a source of many enjoyable hours. In the beginning there is order. After only a few turns, sometimes 6 is enough, you are baffled when you try to return: it gets worse. Then the search for a solution starts and one of the first questions anyone asks: IS there a solution? Of course there is, but WHY then? The simple argument is that you should only reverse all turns that have been made in the past. Did you forget? Bad luck. But not all bad. There is not ONE solution but INFINITELY many. Huh? Yes! So you should be able to find any of the miriad solutions. Start investigating, start small. Build one layer. Build the second and arive at the third layer. Be proud of your successes, don't be upset that you have only part of the solution. You will get ever closer to cleaning it up. Study the effect of simple formulas. Try this one: URU'R' and make a drawing of its effect by following every small cubie individually. Investigate (URU'R')2, (URU'R')3, (URU'R')4, (URU'R')5 and (URU'R')6 (Hint: the last one does nothing.) This would give you a start. Investigate, try, combine. Change your mental attitude from frustration to wonder to concentration and then excitement! This puzzle is one of all times and never to be left out of your explorations of the world's wonders. Have fun with it and never see it as difficult, but always as fun. Good luck. ...
Customer Review: One of the most classic puzzles ever Summary: 5 Stars
The Rubik's Cube has got to be the most classic puzzle toy of all time. But I don't really consider it a toy because I've known a lot of adults that like the cube better than kids do. You have several different colors on the cube and you try to match them up where all the different colors are matched up on every side of the cube. It's easier said than done, but after you keep trying long enough, you'll solve the puzzle eventually. I've heard of people taking the stickers off and placing them in different sections of the cube, but that would take the fun out of it.I've been playing the Rubik's Cube since I was a kid and when there's nothing else to do or when I feel like taking a good challenge, I still like trying to solve the difficult puzzle every now and then. The cube can be good for kids because it can teach them some thinking and concentration skills, but it's great for anybody no matter how old you are. It's real durable and not easy to break even when you drop it. Just as long as you don't remove any of the stickers from their original spot, the stickers will also stay in place and you'll have the Rubik's Cube to challenge you for the rest of your life. I recommend anybody who likes puzzles or a good challenge every now and then to get the Rubik's Cube.
Customer Review: They get poorer and poorer in quality. Summary: 4 Stars
This is not so great for an enthusiast, like myself. A DIY cube would be better. Or a vintage cube or just a non-anniversary edition Rubik's Cube. Not too bad though. I've been fiddling with 2 of these for the past 7 months. First one was purchased 2-3 years ago.. got too loose. Second one, anniversary edition.. starting to get too loose after about 4 months of INTENSE cubing. When I say INTENSE, I mean 2-8 turns per second. For 1-5 hours a day. Hm, I must've solved it at least 10,000 times.. I have no live -_- And replacing stickers can be a bit of a pain.. peeling and dealing with the leftover adhesive.. you might eventually have to do that.. you will if you're an enthusiast. The stickers are very cheap.. the transparent film starts to come off after a few weeks or months.. Eventually the colors rub off and the stickers themselves start peeling.
Anyway, fun and addictive. Oh, and for those who are tempted to peel the stickers.. Learn to dismantle the cube. Better yet, learn to solve the cube =D It's rather simple.. A 6-year-old solved it under 38 seconds. =) People solve it under 3 minutes, blindfolded. Have fun!

Customer Review: You can be a "Cuber" too! Summary: 5 Stars
I stressed out so much prior to making this purchase. I didn't want to make a decision I would regret. After all, I was going to spend [...] and change! I didn't want my nephew the expert "Speed Cuber" to make fun of me for the rest of my life for having made a bad investment. I've read all the previous reviews...some giving good reviews and some giving bad reviews. I didn't make the plunge to purchase until my nephew "The Speed Cuber" said to "Go for it!" and that I can't go wrong based solely on the price. After receiving the cube and have been "cubing" for the past few months, I have not experienced anything close to what some are saying that the stickers are cheap and will fall off; or that the pieces are flimsy and will fall apart. I "cube" for at least one hour a day trying to attain "Speed Cubing" proficiency. Admittedly, the cube is rather stiff but smoothly movable, sturdy, and durable...It has since loosened up. But it's certainly no where as loose and smooth as my nephew's "Speed Cubes" and you can't "corner" with it. My nephew the expert cuber while inspecting it declared that it's "pretty good"...And I agree!
Customer Review: Shoddy Construction Summary: 3 Stars
The first one I received fell into pieces as I took it out of the clam shell package for the first time. One of the center cubes broke off of the inner support just by opening it from the package. It appears to have been a manufacturing defect. I received a replacement.
The 2nd cube's stickers started to peel off after a few hours of use. Very annoying.
The center white cube has a RUBIK's Cube logo which is a complete eye sore. Everyone knows it's a Rubik's cube, why do I need an advertisement on the cube??? It really takes away from the aesthetics of the cube. It makes me want to buy an off brand just to not have the ad there.
Other than that, it is what it is. It's not educational. The overwhelming vast majority of us can only "learn" how to solve it by having the solution and practicing it. Anyone who claims to figure it out by themselves is full of it. I do not recommend this for children - buy them a hand held video game which will provide greater mental exercise.
