Toys and Games Reviews of Risk

Customer Review: world domination is fun
Summary: 5 Stars

this game is awesome but could be better. the game got 1 star in educational value because of the misshaped continents (for example one part of europe is half the size of asia) the durability is ok because the pieces are so small you can literally inhale them. the gameplay is smooth and not very complicated. the object is to rule the world and to do that you must attack the opponent. the world is divided into 42 territories, 8 for each continent. each turn you get extra troops or reinforcements to place on your terriotores to strengthen them. to take over territories you must conduct invasions. an invasion is (your) effort(s) to take over a territory. one invasion may consist of one or many short rounds called battles. battles are actually based purely on luck, not strategy. the strategy comes in when you're deciding when and where to attack and where you place your reinforcements. overall this is a great game but it takes hours to finish a game.

Customer Review: "Risk" is a Classic. It ranks way up there with Monopoly...
Summary: 4 Stars

This game was definitely worked on for a long time. Although it is almost all luck, it's is very satisfactory to rule a continent or two. As a world leader, your object is to storm through your enemies territory, and eventually destroy them. Once you do this, you take on your next opponent. Because this game can seem boring to you after you've played it a few times, you might not want to try it again. But that will only be while your not playing it; Risk will always keep your heart beating as you think about what you can do if nothing goes wrong, and how your opponents could screw it up for you. Risk has always kept me on my toes every time I've played, because as the game goes on, I watch one person sieze power, and think how my nation is about to be obliviated. However, if I'm the person siezing all the power...it's wonderful to laugh selfishly as you annihalate the other players' armies. He He He. A very exciting game....

Customer Review: epic fun
Summary: 5 Stars

I feel sorry for people who say their favorite game is something like "Sorry," where a drawn card determines with blind luck the game's outcome. It is more of a diversion than an actual game. I am proud to say "RISK" is my favorite game -- luck is one element, but so is strategy and brainpower.

The goal is simple: Rule the world. Unfortunately, there are 2 to 5 opponents in your way. The game tends to last for hours as weaknesses are tested, strategies are played out and brave (or foolish) conquests are carried out. Though many games can last for hours, the tide can turn in a single round. For those fans of strategy games, this is a must-have.

I did take one star off durability because the pieces are rather small. Be prepared to pick a few out of the carpet days after the game has ended. Other than that, take care of your gameboard, cards and pieces and I have no doubt it will last many years.

Customer Review: Anyone who wants this game, Please READ
Summary: 5 Stars

This is an extremely complex game with little to memorize from the manual. The manual is well written and indexed. This game is not for agressive people as the entire game can reciprocate in one move. If you play games because you are accustom to them, you will not start out enjoying this game. The main objective is to build your artilleries then attack. It is very easy to lose this game in less than 5 minutes even if you have 3/4 the board. This game is enjoyable to anyone who likes to strategize. This game has more of a plot than Monopoly, less flack than Dungeons & Dragons, More of a youth interest than Scrabble, More mature than Sorry, and many more. Please BUY this game as a great entertainer for you and friends. You won't regret it. Durablility is rated the way it is because and only because the pieces are small and the colors make them easy to lose in different situations

Customer Review: A pretty damn good game.
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been playing Risk for years now. In fact, almost every Sunday some battle of Risk is at play in my house.
One of the main reasons why I think that this game is really enjoyable is you can create your own rules to complete YOUR game, as everyone plays it a little differently.
As you play it more and more you become aware of very involved stategies, and just like chess, you find yourself trying to predict the next couple of moves.
If I were to put this game on a scale, it would be chess as chess compares to checkers, and checkers being the game of monopoly.
Play it a few times and you will develope your own strategy, but don't keep that strategy too long, as very soon your enemies WILL find a way to get around it, and then you WILL lose.
Play it with the same group numerous times and try to develope rules that will enhance the fun of the game for you.
