Customer Review: Horrible toy originally liked better a year later
Summary: 1 Stars

Update as of December 2009- My daughter now loves this tambourine she will play with it for extended periods of time and will actually hear entire songs out of it. She has a lot of fun with the cause and effect. She received this toy when she was a little over two and now that she is 4 she likes it much better. YOu do not need to hit it hard and if you do the music comes out jumbled. She has figured out how to do it correctly and no longer gets frustrated with it. I enjoy the shows she puts on for me now----->original review below

My sister gave this to my daughter for Christmas. Even though we still have it we use it only as a tambourine and do not try to make the music play. I actually thought it was broken and changed the batteries numerous times. I guess I have never really shaken it hard enough as I would hear music and then it would die out. Um now that I know to shake the life out of it we will try it again but no matter what it is large for toddler hands....actually large for adult hands and the only nice quality about it is that it makes tambourine noises (the dollar store toys can do that though. I just hope my sister got it at a great price!

Customer Review: So much fun! Perfect for our little living room band!
Summary: 5 Stars

We have quite a few toy musical instruments (and some homemade ones!) that we bring out when we are feeling musical, especially when we have lots of kids around. This tambourine is a lot of fun, and the 3-5 year olds really love it especially. I agree that it is too hard for a one or two year old, but for ages three and up, it's easy to use and fun!

It's bright color and cool design make it a favorite for the kids, and it sounds great, too! So all in all, we love this toy, and would definitely recommend it!

Customer Review: He doesn't like it as much as a regular tambourine
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought this for my 20-month old nephew. I had a regular tambourine that he loved, but he liked to chew on the metal parts and I was afraid it would break and he could swallow the small parts that held the metal parts together. This looked like it would sound close to a normal tambourine, with some bonus music. The silver parts on this toy are plastic and there aren't pairs to hit each other to make the same noise. The music is also very short. It's ok, but definitely not what I had hoped.

Customer Review: Don't Waste Your Money
Summary: 1 Stars

The concept is simple.. The music only plays if you shake the tambourine constantly.

The problem is that the age group this toy is targeted to doesn't have the attention span or desire to shake it constantly to hear the entire song. So they shake it a few times and then then the music stops. This happens once or twice and then this toy is consigned to the toybox, permanently.

Spend your money on something else, it's not worth it no matter what the cost.

Customer Review: if kids like music
Summary: 4 Stars

they will like this. I bought it for my two and three year old daycare kids. you have to press a button and then shake it. if you stop shaking the music stops. we have the piano and guitar like it and they play if you keep using them. saves batteries that way. I doubt they will play with it much when they are past 3 3/4 but it is fun for them now. they all grab one and play like they are in a band. if kids have a short attention span I doubt this would be good for them.
