Toys and Games Reviews of Playskool Clipo Creativity TableCustomer Review: What a disappointment! Summary: 1 Stars
This is my first ever review on Amazon. I am compelled to write and hope that this review will help others contemplating the purchase of this toy.
My three-year-old son, who is really into this genre of toys, was really looking forward to receiving this toy for Christmas after he saw an ad for it on TV. Upon opening the toy, he was delighted with the colorful shapes and proceeded to attempt to build some structures on the rotating circles. But his initial excitement soon evaporated when he encountered repeated difficulties assembling the pieces properly, due to the specific and nonintuitive orientation required to interlock the pieces. The much anticipated toy ended up causing our normally placid and patient son to repeatedly shout out in exasperation and frustration, "I DON'T LIKE CLIPOS!" Needless to say, we've put aside the toy except when one of us can be nearby to help "supervise." (And we can attest to the fact that the pieces are very difficult to assemble properly.)
If this product had been "kid tested" it would have been very obvious to the manufacturer that the design of the blocks is flawed and the target age group (18 months and up) is completely off-base. What a disappointment for a toy to cause an eager child to be frustrated and upset rather than engaged and happy!
Of course, your mileage may vary.
Customer Review: Not for kids 18 months old, as advertised Summary: 1 Stars
It's been a long time since I hated a product so much, I took the time to bother writing a review on it. This toy stinks. The box advertises that it is for kids 18 months old (and in fact has a picture of a kid who looks about 12 months old), and my daughter couldn't even begin to snap in the pieces, even by the age of 2. And she actually has very advanced fine motor skills (able to hold a pen correctly and draw by the age of 1). The marketing is totally bogus. THEN, if you will notice on this Amazon page, it says "SMALL PARTS, NOT FOR CHILDREN UNDER 3!" Well -- that's not what the packaging says!
In the year we have owned this product, my daughter has spent a grand total of about 10 minutes playing with it. She lost interest b/c there is nothing she can do with it!
Also, once you put it together, you will *never* get it disassembled to put it back into the storage box. The plastic latches are completely immovable. After 20 minutes of heaving and pulling, I gave up in disgust.
This is just one more of those stupid products out there that suckers well-intentioned parents into wasting money.
Customer Review: Fun -- but challenging Summary: 4 Stars
The table popped together easily enough, and I'm happy with the variety and quantity of pieces, and the side buckets for storage. However, these pieces are NOT easy to "clipo" together. The packaging said this toy was recommended for ages 18months+; I think that's a bit optimistic. My 17-month old -- whom this toy was intended for -- likes the shape sorting and the drop-slot feature (the blue covers on the side storage buckets), but he can't really build with the pieces. And my 3-year-old likes to stack and count and organize the pieces by shape and colour, but he's not really able to build much (besides towers) with the pieces, either.
This was a fun Christmas present, and kept the boys entertained for awhile, but I don't think we'll be buying the expansion sets to have even more clipo pieces. Duplos, MegoBloks or even traditional Legos would be a much more versitile -- and less frustrating -- building toy.
Customer Review: Has Potential. Summary: 4 Stars
Our son recently had his two-year birthday party and got a lot of presents. One was a Playskool Clipo Creativity Table. He seems fascinated with it and is playing with it as I am writing this. He's loading and unloading the two little side compartments. The little rotating tables also grab his attention. Well, it's probably going to take a while before he starts building things. I'm building things for him now, and then he gets extremely frustrated in trying to take them apart. The blocks fit together rather tightly and there are tricks to getting them all lined up properly. I'd say it's too advanced for him now and it will take some time before he masters the tasks, but maybe that's the point of an educational toy. If the toy was perfectly obvious and easy, he'd lose interest. In any case, the blocks are sturdy and make good objects for bashing and throwing at the moment.

Customer Review: unhappy with price Summary: 3 Stars
Playskool Clipo Creativity Table I am most unhappy with the slam price that i got on this Clipo table. i started the order in the morning and finished in the evening. i was checking to see what else i needed to order. the price went up from $29.99 to $74.99 in that time!!! a lesson learned by me...order at the price you see when you first see it. i was very disappointed with what i thought was unfair pricing but my hands were tied. i needed this gift for my granddaughter. i will be more cautious from now on when ordering from Amazon.
