Toys and Games Reviews of Playskool Busy Ball-Tivity Center

Customer Review: More than expected
Summary: 5 Stars

I must admit that the sale price of $6.99 first attracted me to this toy so I gave it a try. I purchased it for my one-year-old grandson for Christmas and thought he might be a little too old for it since the recommended age was 9 months and above. But then again, there was that attractive price so I went ahead and ordered it. It is made very well and appears durable but I never imagined it would be the hit that it was, not only with the one-year-old but with his three-year-old sister as well. They kept coming back to this toy on Christmas morning and for days afterwards. As an adult, I don't really see the attraction but I can tell you the kids LOVED it! The one-year-old caught on very easily how to get everything spinning and enjoyed starting it up again once it had stopped. I highly recommend this toy, even at the increased price it is selling for now.

Customer Review: Lame!
Summary: 1 Stars

What a boring toy! This toy seemed to have a good number of interactive elements from the video, but when all is said and done, the "payoff" skill is pressing a button and sitting back to watch the items spin. There are a few stacking options, but the combinations are few and not terribly fun, and they are difficult for the lower end of the age spectrum to grasp (once they've pulled the object off, there isn't anything left underneath that interacts, entertains or challenges, and 9-12 month olds may not yet get that they need to put the item back for the moderate entertainment to continue). In the end, it is really just an example of what I call "live television": press a button and stare at an object while it entertains you...no further input required. Boo, Playskool, for suggesting by the name that an activity on the part of the child was required!

Customer Review: Entertaining Toy that Keeps My Son Busy!
Summary: 5 Stars

My son received this toy as a Christmas present from Grandmom, and I must say - he absolutely LOVES this toy! It seems that at 14 months, very few toys entertain my son - he's more interested in looking at milk cartons and digging in my purse. However, the Busy Ball-tivity Center breaks that barrier! He loves hitting the little ladybug to start the music, poking at the monkey popping up and down in the tree, and examining the elephant, crocodile, and palm tree toys.

The Ball-Tivity Center is very durable - my son has stepped on it, slammed down on the ladybug so hard that the monkey tree comes out of the base, and pushed the toy around the house, and yet it still runs smoothly. It's one of those toys my son loves to play with every day - I love it so much, I bought one for my nephew for his 1st birthday! Highly recommended!

Customer Review: FUN! But a few annoyances...
Summary: 3 Stars

A friend bought this for our son and we unpacked it when he was eight months old. He enjoys it and I actually love playing with it with him, and I like the music! A couple of things to note, however -
1. My son has enough coordination to push the ladybug to start the air flowing. He can push it completely down. BUT it takes a tiny extra push that I have to do to actually start the toy. It's really annoying!!!
2. The box says 9 months and up, but Amazon's product page states that there is a choking hazard and is not appropriate for younger than 3 years. I always watch my son with it and he does put the balls in his mouth. I don't see a 3 year old having fun with this - I guess the point is to supervise your child with this toy.
So, overall good, but I wouldn't necessarily have bought it myself.

Customer Review: Great, entertaining toy, but attachments aren't secure.
Summary: 4 Stars

This was purchased for my 11 month old son, and my 2 1/2 year old daughter loves it as well. The balls interchange with the BusyBall Choo Choo and the Busy Ball Ball Popper. More balls can be ordered from the Playskool website if needed.

I saw another review that mentioned no master shut-off switch. Our toy does have a master switch, it's just on the top rather than on the bottom like the popper and train are.

My kids love the toy. In my opinion, the only downside is that the three 'attachments' (the palm tree, the gator, and the elephant) aren't really secured in place. The are just sitting on the toy in their place. Every time we play with it, they fall off and eventually end up under the bed, dresser, etc...

Overall this is a great toy that my kids really enjoy.
