Toys and Games Reviews of Playskool Busy Ball-Tivity CenterCustomer Review: A Big Hit with 10-Month Old and 2.5 Year Old! Summary: 5 Stars
This was definitely my 10-month old daughter's favorite Christmas gift this year. She loves playing with the balls and the detachable toys. I was surprised that my 2.5 year old son also loves this toy! My 10-month old doesn't understand how to start the air, and lacks the motor skills to successfully re-attach the detachable toys. I think this toy will help her to better understand cause and effect and to hone her fine motor skills.
One negative, at least for us, is that the kids carry the balls off with them and we've been finding the balls in all sorts of places. So if you get this, make sure you keep good track of the balls! I imagine that this toy isn't that much fun if you lose the balls.
Update now that my kids are 5 and 3...
I have tried to get rid of this toy a few times, to make space for new toys, but the kids keep coming back to this one. They play with it differently now. We've lost all the balls that originally came with it, but now the kids put other toys in it (like little princess dolls and action figures) and laugh when they spin around. This toy is a keeper!
Customer Review: WINNER!! Summary: 5 Stars
My son received this as a gift for his 1st Birthday. I would have never purchased this for him myself because frankly it didn't look that interesting. Boy was I wrong. He figured out how to push the button to start it within minutes of removing it from the box. My next concern was that he would never get the concept of stacking the pieces. No problem-one day I looked up and he had them all stacked one on top of another. He adores this toy. He has figured out every aspect of it and I love that the pieces are powered by air because nothing will break when he forces the balls to stop spinning or sticks other toys in the track. The music is great also. He will sometimes just hit the button to play the music and play with another toy nearby and then start the music over again when it stops. I thought that he would tire of this toy easily but he has been playing with it for 5 months non-stop at least a couple times a day. The only time there was a problem was when we ran out of batteries and he couldn't play with it. Appearances can be deceiving. This toy is awesome. I highly recommend it.
Customer Review: 6+ months...great toy for learning Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for my son's first Christmas. He was only 3 months old at the time, so I bought it as something that could be brought out later in the year. When he reached 6 months, I had to bring it out. He was beginning to sit up and I couldn't see any reason to keep it from him.
In the first 5 minutes he learned that the ladybug button would make the music start and the animals go crazy! He was fascinated. Not long after, he began grabbing the balls out and trying to grab the floating one. It was amazing to watch as he learned how to pop the floating ball out.
The movement on the animals and tree is great. I haven't had to change the batteries yet, which is amazing. The songs are catchy and you can't help but hum along.
This is always out at our house and is the first thing he crawls to in the morning. He is only 8 months old now and I can't imagine him not having it. When we go over to his grandma's house, we sometimes take it along. The 1 1/2 year old toddler loves it! Great toy for both fun and learning.
Customer Review: Great First Impression Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this toy for my 16 month old neice. According to her mother on a fun scale of 1-10 (10 being really fun), Emily's fun with this toy is about a 6 or 7. When she first got it, she thought it was really cool, big smiles and all that. It was easy for her to figure out how to make it work, she likes the all the spinning parts, can stack them in different ways. The negatives are that there is no volume control for the music (or off switch on the music if you just want her to play quietly) and if she puts a ball in the volcano, she can't get it back out by herself. (In fact, the thing has to be on for an adult to get the ball out of the volcano, because then it floats on a puff of air, otherwise it's impossible to grab). A 2 year old neighbor girl came over and she also thought it was really neat. (It makes a great first impression.) Emily still plays with it after 2 months, but it's not as cool. I think it's partly her age. It's really fun at first, but it's a little too simple for the slightly older toddler.
Customer Review: What a pleasant surprise - Love it! Summary: 5 Stars
I normally buy my 9-month-old daughter cloth or wooden toys, trying to steer clear of too much plastic and especially the battery operated stuff. I bought this toy basically for one reason, because I needed something in a large box to fill out a personalized red 'Santa' bag that I had gotten her, and being only an infant, she didn't have very many presents, and those she did have were small. Plus this was only $6.99 before Christmas. I didn't expect it to be as nice and as FUN as it is.
But I'm really glad I got this now! The music it makes along with the fan noise and all the action going on with the alligator's mouth opening and closing, the elephant's ears spinning, the top of the palm tree spinning, the balls moving around and around in the bowl - it makes me feel like I'm at a carnival - I can almost smell the cotton candy! And it's just a lot of fun! My baby LOVES it! I only wish now that I had gotten one for my niece for Christmas, too!
