Customer Review: Not for younger kids, not a ton you can do with it

The first play-doh set we got for my 3 year old son was the Play-doh Star Wars Playset and that one it awesome. This set is just so-so.
My three year old son has a lot of trouble doing anything with this set by himself. He can't change the coconuts in the monkeys hands, pull the monkey's tail down all the way to stamp out the coconut shapes, or even push the monkeys head down to extrude the hair. He got a kick out of watching me do it though. He was able to use the coconut stamps off of the monkey to make 3D shapes and to use the stamps around the base.
I even got a bit frustrated with it because as an adult I thought pushing the monkeys head down and extruding hair out of his head was really tough, it was even tougher to get the play-doh to extrude out of the tongue area. When you pull on the tail to bring the coconuts together, the coconuts never come all the way together so you have to push them together by hand. Also for some reason our set was missing the extrusion top to the tiki tower.
The stamps around the base are nice and the coconuts are fun to use without the monkey. The set-up is cute and fairly self-contained for easy storage. Still I would only recommend for kids that are maybe 5 and up. I had some trouble with it as an adult, so kids might find it frustrating too. We really enjoy the Play-doh Star Wars Playset we have. That set has way more you can do with it and is easy and fun to use. I would recommend that set over this one.
