Toys and Games Reviews of Pictureka

Customer Review: FAMILY FAVORITE!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this game to have at our vacation cottage as one the adults could play with the children. Now I've had to buy one for the grandkids to have at their own home. What a hit!! It's always the first game pulled out after dinner and all ages are happpy to join in the fun. You learn to play it very easily and in mere minutes, but it has enough to it to never be boring. It plays fast and brings lots of laughter -- but also encourages alertness, concentration, memory skills and good humor. And it is a game that the youngest player can win as easily as the oldest, which is very nice. Nothing old and stodgy here, but nothing too childish either!!! I do hope they come out with versions II,III, etc., as eventually we will have the cards memorized. We look forward to playing this game for years and years! Very fun, fresh, new game ~ WE LOVE IT!!!

Customer Review: Fun and Fast Playing Family Game
Summary: 3 Stars

Great game to play with the whole family, or any size group of friends. The timer is a little fast, but it keeps you moving! The pictures are really hard to find at times, would not recommend for mixed ages playing together because adults will definitely find items faster. However this game is really fun when it comes to finding items on blue cards, you have to find the exact picture and yell "Pictureka!" The race to find the cards is exhilarating and adds constant fun to the game. All nine game board pieces flip to reveal another side of pictures so that the game is constantly changing! I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who enjoys changing things up in their game night, or likes to play games that get you thinking.

Customer Review: Great game but needs expansion pack
Summary: 4 Stars

This is an awesome game for all ages. We played it over Thanksgiving with grandkids ranging in age from 3 to 11, and they all had a blast. The only negative is the cards bend pretty easily, and there are very few of them, so you end up looking for the same things over and over. Why on earth didn't Hasbro include more cards, or at least make an expansion pack available? I am thinking of having my artist daughter copy some of the images on our own hand made cards for the "blue" mission, so we can have more variety, and we already came up with some of our own categories to add to the "red" and "green" missions. But over-all this is one of the best games for a wide age range we have found in a long time!

Customer Review: A game for your WHOLE family
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been looking for a game forever that I would enjoy playing with my young girls (ages 4 and 7). I love board games, but most games that my 4 year-old can play (like Candy Land), bore the heck out of me.

That is, until I found Pictureka. What a great game! My girls, husband and I all play our hardest and someone different wins everytime. When playing the blue card (everyone looks for an object at the same time) my four year-old often finds the object first! I actually think the kids have a leg up on us because they don't overthink it, they just look.

Highly recommend this game, especially if you have young children and want a game YOU can enjoy playing with them.

Customer Review: Good fun for all ages with one modification
Summary: 4 Stars

Others have discussed the gameplay so I'll just add our own modification! We found that the whole outbidding aspect when you roll a red side of the die was kind of silly. As someone else mentioned, you could outbid simply to prevent someone from getting a card without the intention of winning the card yourself. So, we changed the bidding to a roll-off of the die. The person who rolls red then rolls the number die next. Everyone else must roll once to try and beat that number--whoever has the highest roll gets to play. This gives the person whose turn it actually IS a chance to play and prevents the ridiculous bids that our ridiculous family would throw out just to be stinkers. LOL Fun game!
