I was shocked to see this required not any batteries! :)
I have gotten the travel size being strapped on cash to spend on games. I got this to enjoy with my 6 year-old, but I can have SOOOOO much fun on my own as well! I just now at 33 years young of age playing this. My child has fun with this, and gets a kick out of the pieces popping out.
You only have THIRTY seconds to complete the puzzle. Be careful, as their are two half circles and S-shapes to appropriately fit. The education comes in where and how to match the shapes, and a couple of them, sizes as well. Also teach how to make most of the time and getting as much done as possible when working on a time-limit. You know, like, when you need for your child to hurry but they don't, and when you need for them to take their time, they don't? It teaches how to work with time and being on the clock.
Other reviewers are correct in saying young children need surpervision so they don't put in their mouths the small pieces and choke as it does cause choking hazzards.
I'm not sure if I would recommend this for being on the road in a moving vehicle, just because the pieces pop out; however, it is awesome for taking it away from home since it requires little space in the suitcase, or perfect for Dr. Office visits....

It's a 60 second race to put the shapes in place! Set the timer. Get ready to play! Press down the pop-up tray and start the clock! Now put each shape in its matching hole as fast as you can! Can you match all 25 shapes before time runs out and the tray pops up' For one or more players. Game includes: 25 geometric shapes; game unit with timer, pop-up tray and storage compartment; label sheet; instructions. Color of parts may vary.Even adults will be challenged by attempting to fit all 25 pieces into place before the 60-second alarm sounds. These complex geometric shapes need to be matched with the appropriate hole before the whole tray pops up and sends them flying in an explosion of yellow plastic. Any number of kids can take turns trying to beat the clock, and then to beat each other's best times. For younger children who are still learning to recognize shapes, the game can be played without the time pressure.
