Customer Review: Simple Game/Great Test of Memory!

With 72 cards (36 pairs)I think this is a little more than most 3 year olds can remember. I suggest using only part of the cards and gradually increasing the number of cards as the child gets older--otherwise, they may become frustrated and give up. I agree with the reviewer who suggested that the cards should be laminated. I am not sure how long they will hold up if used much. The pictures are all familiar objects that preschoolers will readily identify, and it's a great game for spending time together.
Update February 17,2009: Yesterday we had this game out again. My 5 year old grandson and I enjoyed playing the game several times and I must admit we make our own rules as we play and I think everyone should, taking into consideration the child's ability as well as the grandparent's. I want to mention that the cards have held up well even after all these years without being laminated. Buy it and have fun!
Description of Original Memory
For 1 or more playersCan you remember what's hiding where' It's fun find matching pictures of your favorite things, two by two. Just flip over cards, two at a time, trying to make a match. If you find the same two cards, you keep them! Find the most pairs and you're the winner! Includes 72 picture cards and a plastic storage tray.
Children learn about taking turns and matchmaking in this game as they try to make pairs of elated elephants, panting puppies, smiling suns, and other familiar objects. The 72 (cardboard) cards have lively, colorful drawings that make them easy to remember and a tray for storing them. Played alone, Original Memory is a quiet activity for developing concentration and memory. With more players, it's even more of a memory challenge to remember where the cards are that have already been turned over. And you have to wait your turn, which is sometimes harder than anything.
