This was my first Nerf gun, and I've had it little under a year, but it is definetely first in line for my arsenal. Even though reloading's a bit tricky and tedious at first, it is extremely exciting in a fire fight. And you don't even have to flip out the chamber. The conveniently placed gaps on the sides make it easy to just slip one in, change the chamber, and repeat. It even has the handy ability to un-cock the firing slide when you want to fake fire it.
Dare I say this, but this little pistol has a greater range than the 'Longshot,' or Shortstop, as I call it. Just don't aim for the eyes...
This thing doesn't break easily either. I once dropped it while climbing a tree about 20-25 feet up and it didn't even have a scratch.
I'd say that this is a must have for any Nerf fan, no matter what age. I hope more ideas like this can be used in the future.
Customer Review: A Lot Of Fun, But Can Be Dangerous...

We bought this for our 6 year old son for a Christmas present. He loves it. It has a lot of power while shooting the foam darts. It seems pretty sturdily built too. My only complaint is NOT against this toy. It's the fact that it is so powerful. Our son kept wanting to look into the barrel. We finally taught him that his eye could be put out if it fired while doing that. The foam darts have a little suction cup on the end that allows them to stick to hard surfaces. Ours will stick to a window or the refrigerator from 12 feet away (easily). That proves that the muzzle velocity is more than enough to damage an eye...
The age recommendations were 8-12 for this nerf pistol, but it might should be for kid's even older in my opinion. I may have to use it myself for squirrel hunting or something.

I was extremely impressed by this gun, especially after I showed it to a friend and he nailed me. I did find a few faults with it though; the Maverick shoots really hard and could actually leave a welt or injury if you got close enough. Another pet peeve of mine that turns into a problem is that with any pull-back spring firing system, someone can leave your precious gun sitting around loaded, for someone to accidentally fire when reloading, or to wear out the spring. The final glitch is the trigger is excessively hard to pull, and when your opponent is spraying off rounds at you, it gets aggravating if you're having trouble returning fire. It has little educational value unless you're going to serve in a war soon. Overall, the Maverick has excellent firing range and power, and with lots of dart refills, it's deadly in the hands of about anyone.Customer Review: Great fun!

We bought two of these, together with an additional 36-package of Nerf darts that whistle, and couldn't be happier. The guns shoot well, and with proper supervision and rules (i.e. don't shoot at the face) they are tons of fun. Be aware that a direct shot to the face could really hurt someone .... this is not a toy to get someone with a long history of irresponsible behavior or a vendetta against his little sister! But to a child who is being extended a little more responsibility, this toy is great!
The six darts that come with each gun are technically "suction darts", but in reality they don't really stick to anything....not even smooth surfaces like glass. But that didn't affect our enjoyment at all.
Overall, we love these, and they are easily my son's favorite Christmas gift.

This gun is probably one of the best guns I've ever gotten. It shoots at an accuracy of about four hits at thirty feet which is better then my Recon nerf rifle and it is very easy to cock. There is one problem with the design though. It is very hard to attach a scope or lazer sight to it because its grooves where you put the scope are on the cock system, which makes it very hard to cock. There are many good things about this gun though like how light it is for its firepower and it lasts a while. From my experience it also can take some beatings and it is a very good gun to have if you're just starting to play because it is very easy to aim. And I'd also recommend it to anybody who's looking for a good but cheap gun. This gun is definately worth paying ten dollers for.
