I got this for Christmas, I am 10 yrs old. This is a great gun. It is easy for me to use. the scope is worthless though. It shoots far and fast. I can load the old nerf darts into the front gun, but not into the clip. I have lost 2 of the 12 darts already (1st day I had it).
Review from mom: It was definitely not as expensive at walmart than listed here! wow. It was a little weird to put together. My 4yr old and my 10 yr old love this. (my husband too!) Seems pretty durable. The darts do jam frequently for the kids, but the tips in other reviews here are helpful. The scope keeps falling off and is a bit 'off'. The front gun doesn't use a clip..just load one dart at a time. My 4 yr old can actually cock this one..other nerf guns he has some trouble. The darts for the clip are already getting torn up from the clip so I hope we can find replacements (i worry from the other review). Anyway, the kids love it and I recommend this a lot.
Customer Review: Lame, jams, and disappointing

My son HATED this gun, and we have nearly every one. The longshot is so disappointing. Jams constantly, slow mechanism, heavy for the weak shots u get. Inconsistent shots. The pathetic front gun handle snaps off all the time, who designed this crap? We ended up keeping the stampede instead. I think that all the glowing reviews here are probably fake. I read them and based my decision on those. If you get this gun, you too will be adding your poor review. The longshot has less power than the stampede, the hyperfire, even the nite finder has more power and distance. It's not so much the weak fire, it's the variable firing and accuracy. We ended up ripping off that stupid front gun, taking off the barrel, which just retards any power, taking off the stand ( too heavy), and trimming off all excess plastic crap that this gun has. Now a decent gun that jams only now 60% of the time. Avoid this dog of a nerf.Customer Review: "Educational value" of this toy ... it might teach them to adjust for Kentucky windage!!!!

My Mom got this for my 6 1/2yo son and his 7 1/2yo old cousin on Christmas. My brother-in-law and I both said we were getting our own Longshots! They're awsome!!! They bare a strong resemblance to the pulse rifles from Aliens when the front "pistol" is taken of (f.y.i. the elongated version makes your shot shorter due to the extra friction put on the "bullet").
Only downsiode so far is reminding my spastic 6 yo to get his bullets after he shoots 'em.
This is one of Nerf's best "guns" so far!
My son got one of the N-Strikes last year that is the big, red RPG-like gun, that thing's pretty cool too. He shot one of our cars from about 20 - 30 ft away this past year and I would have sworn from the sound of it that he had dented the car!
Thank's to Nerf for prepp'n my son to move up to some thing that might shoot his eye out later on!!!

Definitely one of the most durable and best mechanical system of all the nerf gun's when it come's to range and power - especially if you mod for a hobby. Although I'm a bit miffed at the price - considering that I saw prices as low as 35 dollars at some store (then again, you don't know how may distributors those products went through).
Overall, this was definitely the best nerf gun I've purchased in comparison to the newer models.
What I liked:
-Range
-Power
-Bolt action (easier to lock compared to other nerf guns - without modding them)
-Weight: feels a bit more realistic
Disliked:
-Accuracy once you add the extension
-The adjustable stock (can only adjust to 2 settings)
-the grip when you put down the legs for the tripod
-the durability of the streamlined darts - they wear out pretty fast
Customer Review: Most Nerf Guns are Awesome - This One Jams Too Often

This gun jams regularly. Once a nerf dart jams, it gets slightly crimped by the gun and tends to jam even more often. This wouldn't be so bad if it took regular Nerf darts, but it doesn't. It takes its own special Nerf dart which I haven't been able to find for purchase anywhere. If this gun didn't jam so often and the Nerf darts would readily be available, I would most definitely rate this gun 5 stars (only because 100 stars isn't available). I have two sons (ages 6 and 10) and they already have the Nerf N-Strike that has the rocket launcher as well as a couple of pistols and a Gatlin style machine gun and they all are awesome! My wife and I often have battles with them and these other guns have lasted for a couple of years. This one is really neat and I could "deal" with the regular jams if replacement darts were available for it like they are for the others.
