Toys and Games Reviews of Nerf N-Strike Longshot CS-6

Customer Review: It's completely awesome (if you know how to REALLY use it)
Summary: 5 Stars

People have been complaining, "oh, the accuracy is bad!" "oh, it doesn't shoot far enough." Well, I own the blaster and I figured out a secret: when loading the darts into the "clip", the darts have a small hole in them. Put them into the clip with the hole facing downward. Then, it is INCREDIBLY accrurate, and shoots INCREDIBLY far!

Other than that, the gun has a few problems: 1)The bolt handle twists around, which is generally not a problem, but it sometimes slips out off your hand (not often). 2) When you pull the bolt handle back (btw, the bolt handle charges up the gun), you can hear all these things clicking. Though this is not neccisarily bad, but it seems like someday they will break.

The rapid reloading feature is great, the gun has an extra slot for the clip, and after you get used to it, it's really easy to use.

The scope doesn't zoom, but unlike everybody else's complaints, I find it quite useful. It has a little crosshair with elevation markers, so that you can shoot LONG distances and still aim accurately.

Although, for little kids, this may not be the greatest, because although not heavy, its large and cumbersome for small kids, even without the front end attachment (which doesn't help that much, by the way). Also, it's a little TOO realistic (considering it's bolt-action, clip fed, has a scope, bipod and adjustable stock), and, again, might not be good for small children (but, com'on, its blue with bright orange highlights!).

Summing it all up, THIS THING IS MORE THAN WORTH EVERY PENNY, as long as you know my secret!

Thank you,
Fragments of a Funky Llama

Customer Review: needs better darts, good otherwise
Summary: 4 Stars

I have the nerf longshot, and overall is fun and has a great rate-of-fire. Here is a list of the things it has and does, each with a rating up to five stars and a short description.
1.Adjustable stock-****(4):It's a good idea to be able to move the stock in case you are too big for one setting or too small for the other.
2.Clip storage-*****(5): Convenient place for your second clip, and helps balance out the bipod.
3.Bolt-action loading-*****(5): Easy to pull back
4.Scope-*(1): VERY inaccurate, but somewhat helps you judge where you are aiming.
5.Quick-reload clips-****(4): Easy to use when firing, but frustrating to load darts into them.
6.Bipod-*****(5):Helps to balance your shot.A great idea.
7.Second blaster-**(2):Sort of convenient to have a pistol on you, but has bad distance and accuracy. You would be better off with a maverick.
8.Streamline darts-***(3): they do shoot fast and accurate, except for the small hole in them that makes them go off course. However, these are the only types of darts that the longshot can fire.
I sure hope that was helpful if you forced yourself to read all of that. I do have a trick, though. Take off the front attachment. Load the clip into the main gun, push bolt back up, and fire. It shoots much farther than with the front part on it, and is also more accurate. I'd say that it could probably shoot up to 60 or 70 feet with that trick. Overall, I definently would buy this gun. Thank you for reading my review.

Customer Review: A New Nerfer's Views
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this gun at Target for 1/2 the price listed here, and have had a lot fun with it.
Main Gun:
Pros:
clips for easy reloading
range is significantly better than the Hasbro Nerf N-Strike Maverick Intimidates opponents
Cons:
streamline darts darts expensive
clips ridiculously priced
clips difficult to fill with darts
stings at point blank range
Notes: Lots of fun, but be careful with the darts
I read here that you can fit regular darts into the longshot if you rip the tops off. This is true, but for me they only went a few inches.
Extension:
Pros:
Cons: Unpredicatble range (1ft.-15ft.)
single shot
awkward to strap over shoulder
Notes: not that bad, but nothing stands out as good. Had trouble attaching trigger at first. Takes NERF SONIC MICRO Darts Refill 10 Pack as well as sreamlines

Scope:
Pros: Fun
Cons: Hard to attach
shots go low when you aim with it
Notes: Form side to side the aim is fine just aim high

Together:
Pros: Intimidation (more)
ability to fire 2 darts from one gun at the same time
easier to carry
Cons: Slightly shorter range
Harder to reload extension
awkward to hold
Notes:

Overall notes:
Great gun, a sidearm besides the extension is useful.

Customer Review: Not that great for a nerf "sniper"
Summary: 2 Stars

This weekend, I got this nerf "sniper" for my birthday so I can participate in my dorm's game "RC Assassins."
All in all, if you're considering buying this, I would reccomend the Nerf N-Strike Recon Cs-6 Dart Blaster, which is $10 less, or the Hasbro Nerf N-Strike Maverick, which is $10 total.

Pros:
2 six-dart magazines for slightly faster reloading
Cons:
The gun jams too much, which ruins the darts you're given.
The detatchable pistol is terrible. You get one shot you have to load from the front when the darts are stored in the two magazines, one stored in the stock of the rifle and the other loaded in place.
Pitiful range. Box claims to be "the longest nerf blaster"-- This seems to refer to the barrel of the rifle, not the range of the dart's fire (35 feet, according to the box, but I've fired that far with one of the older nerf guns I had when I was younger and with my friends' new Mavericks).
I know there are warnings "Do not modify darts or dart blaster," but I'm an engineering student with the help of three other engineering students, so we gave it a try. With the current design, we couldn't remove the air suppressors, but we did stretch the spring out to 1 and 1/3 times the length. It works just the same after putting it all back together, except it fires a little farther (about a foot or two). Also, it was a pain to remove the screws. Using the right sized screwdriver, almost all of the screws were stripped (cheap quality).

Customer Review: Great Toy For Rambunctious Boys!
Summary: 5 Stars

My son got this toy with his birthday money and to say the least I was somewhat skeptical about how long it would be before it would be broken. Not that he's tough on toys, but since "nothing is made the way it used to be". Well to my surprise, it is extremely durable and he's been playing with it for almost a year. Nothing has broken, nothing has needed to be fixed and other than a few lost darts (normal attrition), we've only had to pull out one dart that was mis-fed (put in backwards) and other than that it's been perfect. You can also easily take it apart to give you a shorter gun and a hand gun which is kind of fun. The gun has been taken apart and put together dozens and dozens of times with no issues. The gun has a nice scope for "sniper" shooting, but it isn't telescopic or anything so the use of it is somewhat negligible - but still cool to pretend as there are legs under the barrel to give you even more "sniper" action. The butt stock also extends in an out, but we didn't figure out what use that would really have.

I haven't read any of the other ratings, but it's hard for me to understand the 1- and 2-star ratings unless you either A) got one that was already broken and you want to complain about it or B) you have a hellion as a kid and he breaks everything. We also bought the adapter clip for his gun since the clip that comes with the gun only has 5 darts. Kind of skimpy, but the gun as a whole is well worth it. Because of his enjoyment of this particular Nerf gun, my son has bought three others all which he also thoroughly enjoys.
