Toys and Games Reviews of My Little Pony Original 1983 My Little Pony Collection 2Customer Review: My Littles Ponies: One of the Best Toys from the 80s Summary: 5 StarsI'm glad that I can still find Original 1983 My Little Ponies so that I can buy them for my friend's daughter (who is turning 4 this month). It's nice to be able to buy her toys that I enjoyed as a child. Like many others, I prefer the original ponies rather than the ones they sell in the stores nowadays which are kind of weird.
Customer Review: Not exactly remakes, but so cute! Summary: 4 StarsI had every My Little Pony Hasbro made when I was a kid, and I was so excited to see the remakes of the original 6 ponies. Unfortunately I STILL have some of my originals from the 80s to compare, and the remakes aren't exactly remakes. The colors are much brighter and the markings are not the exacty same designs- some are larger, some smaller. The eyes are also bigger like the newer G3 ponies. BUT... how cute! They certainly are adorable, and I am so glad my little girls got the chance to own and love them. For a collector, maybe stick with the originals. I'm not a collector, just someone who remembers how much fun they were - and little girls still love them! Mine do. As cute as the G3 ponies are, they don't come close to the 1980's G1 ponies!
Customer Review: VINTAGE MLPS!!!! Summary: 5 StarsVintage MLP's are wonderful, beautiful creatures! SO wonderful to see Hasbro bring some of them back! Hope they do more in the future! 80's MLP's ROCK!!! :o)
Customer Review: Fun for little hands Summary: 4 StarsI was a little too old (or thought I was, anyway) for the MLP's first appearance. Now I have a little girl of my own, and am discovering how much fun they can be.
For simple fun, the ponies on their own rank up there with baby dolls. My daughter, who is 2.5, loves to comb the hair, and do what little girls do with toy horses....there is much galloping about and neighing through the living room.
These are good, sturdy toys that should put up with grubby toddler hands quite well.
Customer Review: Just as I remembered! Summary: 4 StarsI had the Original My Little Ponies when I was a little girl ,and now that my own daughter has both sets, I must say, they look just as I remember! I love that they are sweet and classic and not wearing make-up! I love the adorable decor along their side. My daughter loves that they face front and looking down because it is easy for her to make them "eat"... The only thing bad about them is that they are a little head-heavy and they topple forward when they are on the carpet. Sometimes this frustrates my daughter so she plays with them on her table instead. I'm not sure if the modern style My Little Ponies do that because we do not own any, but I wonder if this older generation of ponies fall forward because they are looking down! I think the new ones look up and to their side and that probably keeps them more well balanced, but would make it harder to pretend they are eating the grass! Overall, they are wonderful and I am so happy they reissued these My Little Pony sets because otherwise they would cost a fortune on e-bay!
