I'm an older collector who loves the MLP revival, but I must say I'm often disappointed with the ponies' new colors. They often seem chosen at random from a list of colors Hasbro thinks kids will like, with no regard for how they look together. So we've gotten lots of Hyper Pink on Xtreme Puce - Electric Kool-Aid Acid Ponies. This may seem like too much fussing over a kid's toy - but when I was a kid, playing with the original ponies, I *liked* how softly blue Blue Belle was, or how Moondancer's unique red mane went with her white coat. That's what makes ponies *pretty*.
This pony, however, is a real beauty. She's not a special release, but she easily could be - her mark, wings, and hair all glitter and shine, and her body is slightly shimmery. Silver Glow has a celestial theme, so the glitter fits - and she has stars not only in her eyes but on her cutie mark. Lots of different (and lovely) blues are used in her design, so the pony looks sharp and together (none of the pink-puce-green effect) but not boring with too much of one color. She also has a friendly face - not the smug, Bratz-y ones some of the new ponies have had. *And* she's a pegasus.
I'll note that the picture makes her to be a bit bluer than she really is; her name's "Silver Glow", after all. (Her body's kind of a light blue tinged with silver, and the streak in her mane's a cornflower, not a bright royal blue.) This's a very pretty pony, though, and would make a great gift for any age My Little Pony fan - particularly if you're looking for something a bit different from the usual hot pink.
