I really think you can never go wrong with Mr. Potato Head ... it teaches kids problem solving and creative thinking, while also letting them practice their small motor skills. Plus, it's fun! I've caught myself reliving my childhood by playing with this toy as well. I will say, at 18 months, my daughter still puts a few of the pieces in her mouth. So, we took away the earrings and flower so she didn't try to swallow them.
The one dissapointment is the suitcase. I thought it'd be a great way to keep all the pieces together, but ... First, the case falls apart on a regular basis. It's easy to put back together, but it's a pain to deal with. Second, it's difficult to simply throw all the pieces into the case - they really have to be put in a certain way to all fit in properly. I can do it with a few minutes of work, but I can't see my 18-month old having enough patience to do it. I gave up on the suitcase after a few weeks, and put the pieces in a see-through bin. The case is a nice idea, but it didn't work for us. The problems with the case would not stop me from getting this set though - it offers a lot of variety!

I bought this on recommendation of a friend for my 19 month old boy. From the moment it came out of the box, my son has spent hours playing with it. There is so much to do, lots of silly faces to be made. At first he wasn't so sure about where the eyes and ears, etc. should go, but he had no trouble changing the parts around. Within a few days, he was naming all the parts and putting them in the right places by himself. He sings to him and changes the shoes, eyes, etc, many times before tiring of the toy. And I love the 'suitcase' that the toy comes in; my son now knows we put 'Mr. head-head' to sleep in it every night and he will help put the parts back in (with a little help here and there) and say bye bye when I put him away.
It's been about 2 months and he still loves playing with 'Mr. head-head' daily. Excellent toy, an oldie but what a goodie!

My mother had bought this Mr Potato head for my son in hopes to learn the body parts (head, arms, legs etc)...not only did he learn to say the body parts but he doesnt put the toy down. He loves it! The suitcase that comes with it is an excelent idea for parents. Us parents know how frustrating it is when our children get new toys that come with tons of small parts that can easily be lost. The suitcase helps keep all the parts together...I even get my son to put the parts in the suitcase himself (good way to teach him to clean up). Our dog although got a hold of some of the parts and chewed them up...Our son was so upset, we had to go out the very next day and buy a new Mr Potato head...this is certainly not a toy that collects dust in our house!!Customer Review: Mr. Potatoe Head, A man for All Seasons

Mr. Potatoe Head is a toy that has endured and is the pinacle of value to parents and children. It should always be included in the toy box. My children had one sixteen years ago and my God son of two now has one. Good educational toys endure, Mr. P. is fun, allows creativity, & imagination as well as teaches chlidren the parts of the face & body. Mr. P. also teaches hand/eye coordination and is safe and durable for children 2-85, don't recommend for infants (pieces are too small), I've even seen John Lithgow on 3rd Rock From Sun play with his on his desk! Great toy for all ages, all times, and all toy boxes!Customer Review: Now this is a fun toy!

You can't go wrong with Mr Potato Head. You and your children will have hours of fun making up silly faces no matter what their age.My daughter received this for her second birthday and was playing with it straight away - the pieces are easy to insert into Mr Potato Head and any piece can go in anywhere making for some interesting "Mr Potato Heads".
The suitcase is a fabulous idea - so many pieces to make so many different combinations of faces and they all fit into the suitcase for storage and for taking on car trips or visits to grandparents.
Fantastic toy!
