Toys and Games Reviews of Monopoly Here & Now Limited EditionCustomer Review: Great game for the whole family! Summary: 4 StarsI got this game free with my purchase and thought I would give it away for a gift. My son asked to keep it, and I am so glad he did! We really had a great time playing! It seemed so much less "cluttered" as we played due to the way they designed the new game. My kids were even noting places and we had great conversations about the different locations that they had on the board. I would definitely recommend this game even if you already have the older version like we do!
Customer Review: Dr. Evil should have bought this! Summary: 4 StarsThis is a standard monopoly game; and while every monopoly game has a theme or twist to it, I have found this version to be extremely educational. Not only do prices, interest, and income finally reflect the new milenimum, but also the player pieces and property names.
Customer Review: Fun for groups, hard if you've memorized the classic edition Summary: 4 StarsAs an owner of over 30 monopoly sets, I've played some pretty bad versions. The here & now edition is not one of them. I enjoyed the national locations rather than confinement to a single city that I've never been to. The updated tokens are great, too. I did find myself wondering why PB didn't decided to go global with the locations, though, as the current economy is so globally dependent... Doesn't really detract from the game, though.
One problem I had (and the only reason this gets 4 stars) is that the money was cumbersome if you're very used to the classic denominations. All of my sets except this one use the standard 1-5-10-20-50-100-500 scheme, whether it's dollars, galactic credits, hobbit money, whatever. Switching to large money values is great, but I think they should have at least left the 1-5-etc scheme, so the money could have been $1000, $5000, $10000 etc. This would help tie the old versions with the updated-ness of the new version, allowing a connection between those of us who have been playing the classic sets for years and the people who are just starting.
Overall, nicely executed idea that could have used a bit more globalization and more familiar money.
Customer Review: Meeker Review Summary: 3 StarsI really love monopoly because its fun and educational at the same time. I mean, I can add, subtract, multiply and divide in my head so much faster because I played this game so much. The thing is. I dont really play anymore. I bought it because I kind of collect different editions of monopoly now. You should definitely get on if you are intersested.
Customer Review: A Great Update!! Summary: 5 StarsThis game is much more relevant than ever before. The prices are higher, the penalties are different and the properties are brand new. As a Texan, I was sad to see Texas Stadium be one of the cheaper properties but oh well. It was still very cool to see Texas represented.
The game play is much the same as you'd expect from Monopoly. In that respect, nothing's really changed. But the updated costs and what not really do make the game more interesting. It's 2 million for this or 500,000 for that. This not only allows you to pretend to be a millionaire. It also allows my 9 year old to practice his math with bigger numbers. Games are fun... family time is fun... learning is fun. Monopoly here and now gives you all of that and more!
