Definitely one of his favorite presents from his birthday party. No batteries necessary, how great is that? The "mud" is kind of like play doh that you press an impression into and fill it with alien "lava" It takes about 5 minutes (or a little more) to dry and he's been having a blast with it. There are quite a few 2 piece combination aliens to make. The combinations are really cute and seem endless! Lots of fun to make and then to play with the aliens and the spaceship.Customer Review: Very fun without being messy!!!

We just purchased Martian Matter for our 8 year old for his birthday and it is a fabulous toy! He loves it, and never gets tired of making the little aliens, (and even I enjoy it too)... The thing I like best about this product is that it is NOT MESSY! The spaceship is very durable and perfectly stores all the stuff that goes in it.... Very easy to make these little aliens.... I highly recommend this product! Your child will absolutely love it! Well worth your money....Customer Review: My kids have played with it for over 5 months!

We got this for my 7 year old on his birthday last october. It is the biggest hit I have seen with my kids in a long time. All the boys play with it, from age 5 to 12. We have gone through alot of refills. I even have fun with it:) The martians are fun to make, easy, and relatively not messy. Its pretty much the same thing as playdough with some goo. But my kids have never ever played with a toy this long. as long as there is martian matter my kids play with it.Customer Review: Great Toy!

I bought this for my 3 and 7 year old boys. They had so much fun making martians, and there was NO mess! The martians came out of the molds easily and the time to dry (3-5 minutes) is accurate from the instructions. If the gel got on their hands it rubbed right off and the spaceship makes a great piece for both play and organizing all the parts. I would recommend this to anyone especially those who like moonsand and play-doh but hate the mess that goes along with it.Customer Review: great toy!!

I bought this in the spring for my boys, age 6 and 9. They immediately figured it out and played with it non-stop for days. Eight months later, they still get it out and enjoy making an army of martians. They like to let them dry out. We have bought the refill goop because they went through the inital supply. When kids come over to play, this toy is one of the popular ones. Very fun, real staying power, a toy worth the money. I've made a few martians myself!
