Toys and Games Reviews of Littlest Pet Shop Little Lovin' Pet PlayhouseCustomer Review: Good Grief, It's Just Packaging, People! Summary: 5 Stars
Hey guys,
I got this toy about a week or so ago. At first look, I was a little disappointed because it had a deep scratch on the aquarium. I would not have picked this box if I was at a store, but I guess this is what you get for buying things online; I didn't feel like sending it back for a scratch only, so I proceeded to open it.
My main advice when opening this is: DON'T yank on things, people! It comes out just fine, you just have to be patient! Is it something for a child to open? Well, no, but that's why we are here. As adults, we are armed with (hopefully) more dexterous hands and fingers. The little transparent rubbers are not wrapped insanely; just grab one little strand up, separate it from the little item and cut it, and the rest of the ruber comes right off on your hand.
Also, the wires are not that hard to take off. Nothing I haven't seen a thousand times before. Then again, we have four kids, from 18 to 12, and we have opened so many packages like this, it is no surprise for us anymore.
Just one thing was unique: the wires twist to one side for a while, and then they crook and twist to the other side. Weird, but that is the only thing I found different about the wires. Just remember that they have two twisting sections and pay attention, or you will never be able to take them off. Not the kind of wire twist you can take off while watching TV, but nothing to make you cry or pull out hair.
About the toy, nothing broke; nothing is bad; everything works fine, as expected. The little door seemed like it would stay closed, but it just needed a little adjustment on the hook part, and now it is perfect. It feels sturdy, like the little pets do.
I know people are comparing these to the older little pet shop, but there is no way to compare it. The old animals were cute, but they were not consistent one with the other; some of them looked realistic, other cartoony. Some were well made and detailed, others were not. This new set is all made to match perfectly with one another, making it so that the turtle and the dog can play together great, because they look like they came from the same bug-eye planet. Another thing: the painting on these is fabulous. It is not, like the older ones, a "superficial" looking painting. It looks like it is part of the pet, and it looks so creamy and great.
All I have to say is, great job, Hasbro. Just lower the price of the little sets or I won't buy anymore. You vampires. ;)
