Toys and Games Reviews of Lazer Tag Team Ops Deluxe 2-Player SystemCustomer Review: A Small Un-Bought Review Summary: 4 Stars
Hi. ??? (Yes, that is my Internet identity. Though I've seen others use it elsewhere, so don't be sure it's me everywhere you go.) here for my first Toys'[BACKWARDS R]'Us review. Be prepared. I like to type stuff.
A heads up, I haven't bought this toy. Only by doing research using the commercial and product information, as well as reading other reviews am I able to even have as much info as I do.
From what I've gathered, it seems to be an expensive improvement on others. I'll list my info.
-Features and Pros- (Quite a few, which is good.)
16 (Is it 16?) game modes
All-new Heads-Up Display, or HUD
Communicators and Radars (Not sure about the radars.)
Team Colors: Red and Green
Target/Self "locked-on" alert (Not so sure.)
Target/Self "damaged" alert
Score display
Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) built into HUD (Those 3 flashing symbols on the right.)
Indoor and Outdoor settings (I'm hearing Indoor mode includes infrared vision?)
Unlimited ammo (Not sure about this.)
250 (Maybe 350?) ft. range
-Suggestions- (This is going to be a LONG section. There are so many possibilities!)
It only has Red and Green teams. Maybe more can be added, like Blue and Yellow, for example?
Maybe adding a scenario mode, like Americans vs. Nazis or Communists, with preset handicaps and timeline flow where handicaps change? Maybe computerized voices play as the narrator and fake characters in scenarios, too? Maybe they can also can be compatible with a later suggestion, the TV feature, for showing preset baddies, mazes, and objectives, as certain events in the stories? And maybe the story can branch out in different directions depending on outcomes of battles on TV and in real combat!
Adding individual handicaps, like limited ammo, communications features limited (Static and things.) or disabled (Microphone and speakers turned off.), health (Don't know if they already have that.), and signals/alerts limited or disabled would be nice.
Bases and team items would be neat. Maybe having a bunch of studs being placed on the ground and sense when things come inside the pre-made base area and perhaps shielding and other features? And what about a bunch of items with built-in sensors (So the base borders can sense them.) that you have to get back to your base before your opponents do the same? For example, a gem that makes you automatically win once captured, or small spheres that you have to collect a certain number of? Maybe you can disable the spheres or gems from a battle, too. Think Pikmin II (It's a GameCube game.).
Communicating with the enemy. (Already included?)
Morse code (Morse Code reference charts and buttons on guns.)
TV sensors and game for if you have no one to play with. Maybe special boots so you can walk around virtual mazes?
-Cons- (So few cons, so [INSERT ADJECTIVE HERE] time.)
Can't look into sun.
Can't play at nighttime.
Sensors only on top of guns and can be easily blocked with hand.
As for ratings, this toy is DEFINITELY not educational. It's a shoot-'em-up, not math lessons! I don't know how durable this toy is. It looks pretty sturdy, but computerized toys always seem to be fragile. So... THREE'D!! That means average. It sounds like it's pretty fun and has a lot of features, so I give it a four in fun. Overall, this seems like a great product, though I may e-mail my suggestions to the official developer for an improved version...
??? Out.
