Toys and Games Reviews of LAZERTAG Multiplayer Battle SystemCustomer Review: GREAT OUTDOOR ACTIVE PLAY FOR KIDS Summary: 5 Stars
I wanted a toy that would get my child to actively play outside with his friends, instead of sitting in front of a console and TV screen. We bought 2 sets and our neighbor bought their child 2 sets. Now when our friends come over, we can send all the kids outside to play laser tag in teams. My son just realized that the laser guns allow for 3 teams, not just 2. The positives are that this game requires strategy, teamwork, stealth. They have played day and night outside. Our child is 11 and his friends ages are 10 -13. They have a great time. Most of these kids need to engage in more outdoor play and this system is great if you have lots of outdoor space for them to play in. It is not burning through batteries like I feared, but still you need to keep plenty on hand because each gun takes 4. I am looking forward to playing myself!!
Customer Review: Brief Fun Summary: 3 Stars
My kids (10, 7) and I began playing this game in earnest December 25, right up to January 1, when the trigger on one unit ceased to function. I'm returning both units today, Jan 2, for a full refund and intend to replace the game, either from Amazon or from Costco. Some notes:
Accuracy: More flashlight cone than laser "beam", you can hit your opponent though aiming slightly askew; but since either side enjoys this minor advantage, and since the effect is overridden by the sheer fun of this game, it's irrelevant.
Distance: you can play this in the woods at distances up to, and apparently in excess of, 300 feet, believe it or not. Amazing.
Highly recommended for the boys (and girls!) in the house--dads, that means you too.
If not for the weakness of construction, I'd have given it 5 stars.
Customer Review: Cool Modes Let You Match Player Skill Levels!! Summary: 5 Stars
Lazer Tag made a game that I can play hard with my son but he can still beat me. That means I don't have to pretend to lose. It's very boring to pretend to lose. It's fun to play Lazer Tag as equals with my son.
These guns have a selector switch to choose either 10 lives or 25 lives. I get 10, and my son gets 25. If I still beat him too often I lose my shotgun and he gets to keep his. This really balances things out.
Playing with 3 people? Make a 1 man team with 25 lives and a 2 man team with 10 each. There are almost infinite ways to keep the game competitive.
The ability to handicap the game, plus cool features like the indoor/outdoor switch, shields, and the game start countdown make this set really cool and hours of fun. All of my sons friends ask to play almost every time they see him.
Customer Review: Laser tag for Christmas? Summary: 5 Stars
Well, my son asked for Laser Tag for Christmas and I thought, "where am I going to find Laser Tag??!!" On Amazon of Course!!! Duh. Well, I bought it right away (after doing a little research) and I received it less than a week later (love Amazon's shipping). Two days after receiving it I saw the same exact pair at Target and hesitantly I scanned it for the price...it was $20 MORE at TARGET. I was syked! My husband thinks that online shopping is more expensive. Wrong! Well, they both love them(my husband and 6 year old son)...I don't play with guns :/...can't wait until Spring so they can play OUTSIDE and when his cousin and uncle get a pair they can join in. Great buy, you won't regret it. Oh, and my son also loves that he can play alone on the t.v. if there's no one to play.
Customer Review: Great birthday present for my 9 year old son. Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this present for my son when he turned 9 in February. His friend got it for Christmas, and it's a toy that the two of them play the majority of the time. The benefit to getting my son the same toy is that they can link the two systems together now and have a four player game. More friends, more fun! The boys can be pretty hard on their "weapons" but they seem to be holding up really well.
I did research before I purchased this item and I saw that around Christmas it was going for significantly less than what I paid. I feel that I was a victim of a massive price hike, and that I paid entirely too much for this game (right around $100). It IS a lot of fun, but I am just a little sour because I know I didn't get a good deal on this item at ALL.
