Toys and Games Reviews of LAZERTAG Multiplayer Battle SystemCustomer Review: Pure Fun Summary: 5 Stars
If the reason that laser tag doesn't seem as popular as you might expect is that a lot of laser tag products are not very high quality, Tiger Electronics' new Multiplayer Battle System might just turn things around. A little pricey, but this is without a doubt the best laser tag gear ever to be sold for the purposes of home use (as opposed to use in a commercial tag arena). The shots are long range and accurate, the battery life is impressive, you don't need a big clunky vest, they look very cool and they are surprisingly durable. I've been a game and toy enthusiast since about the age of 3 (now 21), and I've never had more fun than I've had with these. The Phoenix laser guns blow video games out of the water. Note: these laser taggers are best used outside (to take advantage of their range) and somewhere with plenty of cover, such as a forested area. Also, they're much more fun with 4 or 6 players instead of only 2. My only problem is that having bought 1 set, I don't have the money to buy any more.
Ironically, this set actually comes with a video game that is supposed to provide target practice. The game is not very good and probably adds unnecessarily to the sticker price. Just forget the game and go outside!
Customer Review: WAY FUN! Summary: 5 Stars
My sister bought the first set for my children at Christmas. Her son (age 21) wanted them and she thought it would be so much more fun if all the cousins had them. The kids (and by kids I mean age 16 through 21) LOVED them and still do. I got hooked and we now own a large number of these guns. It is great fun to share and I can't wait for the weather to warm up a little, so we can spend time outdoors with them. As it is we run around the house shooting each other almost every night. Gets you breathing hard and takes out a lot of stress (unless you're my husband, who is kind of a poor loser and apparently not the best shot.)
My son says don't bother with the TV game, dumb and only works on certain TV's, but that isn't really why we got the guns anyway. The point was to be active.
I have seen some reviews that are unhappy with the guns because they didn't work correctly, so apparently there are some lemons out there, but all of ours have worked fine, and I have personally whacked them pretty hard on things like door frames and the kitchen island with out any apparent damage (to the gun, anyway.)
These are tons of fun and worth the money in every way!
Customer Review: Great purchase Summary: 5 Stars
I highly recommend this, especially for the price. Paying under 100 dollars for a lasertag gaming system, I expected to get something fairly cheesy that would have all sorts of buggy issues with it. Instead, I got out a very well thought out two-player system (expandable beyond that by ordering more guns) and a 1-player video game as an added bonus. I bought this for my own 6 and 8 year old kids and my friend's 5 year old son. All three picked it up and were blasting each other in no time. This was definitely the best xmas present I've given. It was adorable seeing the 5 and 6 year old locking and loading the manual reload in the handle like they were in the Army.
Another concern of mine was durability. In spite of my speech to all three kids about treating this "big boy" toy with care, they were dropped and banged up several times within an hour and were holding up fine.
I'm looking forward to seeing what else Lazertag comes up with to go along with this system! I rarely give 5 star reviews, but this definitely deserves it.
Customer Review: Great fun, but beware that some guns have defective re-load mechanism Summary: 3 Stars
The review herein by Greg A. Gaub is excellent. These are great, fun toys that provide hours of inside and outdoor entertainment for kids and adults of all ages. That said, I bought three pairs (six total) of these LazerTags and two of the guns were defective straight out of the box. Their re-load mechanisms did not re-load the guns, making the guns useless. It is quite a high defect rate (33%) for two of six guns not to work from new. So hold on to your receipt/warranty in case you need to return for replacement or repair. (Note: I bought my guns from Amazon US, but live in the UK, so I was unable to return easily the guns to Amazon for replacement. But I HAVE gotten the guns to work again by taking them apart and tweaking/adjusting two electrical contacts in the guns' handles. The contacts were not making adequate contact when the re-load mechanisms were activated. Making the guns work again wasn't easy, and I don't know how long my 'repairs' will last.)
Customer Review: Lazertag fun for whole family Summary: 4 Stars
We purchased this laser tag system for our son for Christmas. He is 4.5, so we have to be cautious and have him use it with supervision, because he tends to be somewhat rough. With all the electronic gizmos on this gun, I'm afraid he would break something without close supervision. Everyone in our family loves this game. We just hooked it up to the computer this week, to try playing the video game part. It was fun, although only one player can play at a time, and the sights for the gun seem to be off. It also takes 12AA batteries (6 for each gun), which can put a crimp in your battery budget. We invested in rechargeables, so at least we can save some $ there. The guns are easy to work and make lots of cool noises, including a ladies voice that tells you different things about reloading, game over, which setting you're on, etc. [...].
