Customer Review: Not as much fun as I remembered!!!

I remember playing with one of these as a child and thought my children would like it too. It doesn't seem to be as well made as I remembered. The hippos are hard to keep on the little track and the game goes so quickly that it doesn't keep your little ones busy very long at all! It can be rather noisy at times. It is good for hand/eye coordination, but sometimes the hippos don't seem to move the way you are controlling them. It is hard to get it into the box to store it also, they don't seem to fit. If had to buy it again I don't think I would, especially not for $17.99.Customer Review: A game that any kid will enjoy

Me and my brothers used to play Hungry Hungry Hippos all the time when we were kids. Now that I'm grown, I play the game with my niece, and she likes it just as much as me and my brothers used to. The object of the game is to eat the most marbles to win. The game is fast paced and a lot of fun. It's a way you can teach any kid to count (when they count the marbles) and how to play a game that they will enjoy. Like most Milton Bradley games, it's a classic.If you have any kids, a niece, nephew, etc. I recommend getting Hungry Hungry Hippos for them.

I agree with the other reviewers:
1) Why make a toy that doesn't fit in the box. This is a game children should be able to play by themselves but they need their parents to assemble the game every time. And, its not easy to assemble because the parts are so cheap which brings me to point two.
2) This game is made incredibly cheaply. Of course, I'm comparing this to the original but the balls are so lightweight they float in and out of the hippos mouths.
3) My game came missing a part.
If you can't get the original, its not worth it!

I remember playing this as a child and enjoying it a couple of times so I figured I would buy it for my children to play while I did things around the house and boy was that a mistake! The hippo's neck kept getting stuck in a "locked" position making it impossible for it to lift its head and grab marbles. This, of course, was very frustrating to my children who couldn't figure out why the hippo hovered over the marble but did not "eat it up!". In addition to that...the game is just too darn loud. I would not recommend this toy because it rattles the nerves!Customer Review: Despite the flimsy construction....

It's worth it to hear my 7 year old special needs grandson yell: "Grandma, Hungry Hungry Hippos!" and then we play all four hippos with just the two of us - and yes the hippo heads get stuck [which actually lends itself to the hysterical nature of the gameplay] and the marbles don't want to come out once they're eaten [he used a tool to pry the resistant marbles out of their gullets], but he enjoys counting the 20 marbles over and over and he has fun choosing which two colors he'll be each time around. I rank it a five for the joy on his face when we play.
