Toys and Games Reviews of Hi Ho Cherry-OCustomer Review: A favorite for years...and still going strong Summary: 5 Stars
I never played this game as a child so it was new to me too when my three year old received it for his birthday. It quickly became his favorite game and still ranks highly among his favorites at age 5! We found that it was perfect for our young child because it could be played relatively quickly and was easy to understand. Playing this game regularly helped perfect his counting skills and taught him about basic game etiquette.
Customer Review: Highly Education and Highly Tedious Summary: 3 Stars
Let me say this game it perfect for teaching basic game rules and counting.
That said, this game is so tedious, it even bores ritualistic 3-7 year olds.
You put the cherries on the tree, you move them one by one into the bucket, and just when someone has almost picked all the cherries and the misery is almost over, you spin a dog, bird, or spilled bucket and start over again.
Utter torture.
Customer Review: A five-year-old's cherry picking pleasure Summary: 5 Stars
My almost-5 year old twins love this game. As I remember from playing it as a kid, there is something so lusciously appealing about the little red, stemmed cherries. It reinforces counting, adding & subtracting skills very well. A tip: put all your cherries in a zip-top bag in the box between game play as these are considered delicacies, albeit tasteless ones, to the family dog. A classic, well worth the investment.
Customer Review: Like the new various colors Summary: 4 Stars
We used to have my sister's kids older game and all of the cherries were red. We lost some pieces so we bought another game. The new games have four different colors. This makes it easier to keep track of the cherries. They even give a couple more of each color in case you lose some. However, just like the original game, the cherries are small so they pose a choking hazard if played around younger children.
Customer Review: Perfect game for 3 year-olds! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this game for my 3 year old niece & she loved it! She picked it up instantly. The cherries are small but they weren't really a problem. After a few games she knew how to play & explain it to others. She especially loved yelling "Hi ho cherry oh!" when she won! It held her attention longer than Chutes & Ladders or Candyland. I recommend this game for all kids 3 & up.
