Toys and Games Reviews of Hi Ho Cherry-O

Customer Review: Ho-Hum, Cherry-O
Summary: 1 Stars

I used to play this game with my mom. Recently, I played it with my niece, who is 4. I now feel bad about all the times I made my mom play it with me. As we were playing, my niece said, "I'm not really having much fun, I'm just playing it for you."

That about sums it up - "Hi Ho Cherry-O - bores the britches off 4-year olds."

You spin the wheel. A number comes up. You pick some cherries. You spin the wheel. The birds come. You lose some cherries. The last person to get bored and leave wins.

Personally, I think eating boogers is more entertaining.

Customer Review: Great toy for toddlers.
Summary: 4 Stars

We bought this game for our 2 1/2 year old. We weren't sure how she would do with it, but we were pleasantly surprised. She already knows how to count to 20, but this made counting fun for her because she was picking up and counting into the bucket or back onto the tree. The arrow is very easy for little hands to spin. The cherries have a long stem so it is easy for their little fingers to grasp. She did not become frustrated with this game at all. In fact, we have played it 6 times today. This is amazing, since she doesn't usually sit still for more than 2 minutes at a time. Very highly recommended game.

Customer Review: Fun game for young kids with little fingers!
Summary: 4 Stars

This game arrived under the Christmas tree for my 3-year-old. He likes playing the game and especially likes playing with the cherries! Good for counting, adding & subtracting. 3 stars for durablilty because I'm sure these cherries won't be around long. Game comes with only enough for 4 players...no extras for the ones that get lost in the sofa! Only other complaint is that the cherries and buckets are too small. My husband and I have a difficult time picking cherries out of the bucket. Would it have killed the makers to add just a few inches to the board?! And throw in a few extra cherries!

Customer Review: Not well thought out for the younger users.
Summary: 3 Stars

My daughter, just turned 3, really likes it but there are some problems. She has very good fine motor skills for her age and it is still a bit difficult to pick up the tiny cherries by the stem when putting them on or taking them off the board. Any sudden movement can send the cherries rolling. And the spinner board is not conducive to learning numbers because the triangles are quite narrow and the arrow is very close to covering the numbers so a younger child will have a hard time seeing them even when an adult is pointing out what the arrow is meant to indicate.

Customer Review: A FUN and educational classic
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this game for my daughter on her 4th birthday. The whole family has enjoyed playing it. My nine and seven year old boys even request to play it. It does it's job at teaching my little girl to count. She is even learning to add and subtract a little bit and she doesn't even know it. The good thing for me is, the game doesn't take long, so even if I am busy, I can usually squeeze in a couple of games each day. The only drawback is you only get exactly enough cherries so if you lose one, you have to improvise. I think they should include a few extra cherries.
