Toys and Games Reviews of Hasbro i-Dog Robotic Music Loving Canine - WhiteCustomer Review: It's just the cutest damn thing for about 5 or 6 songs! Summary: 2 Stars
I bought the iDog for my cubicle at work, I needed a speaker to hook up to my Mac and thought it would be a neat little mindless thing to mess around with when I was bored, which is rare, but the little blinking lights and the dog's movements appealed to me.
So I get it out of the box and plug it in, easy as pie. I let it play, the sound was pretty decent, ranged somewhere between the computer's speaker and external ones, but not bad. I watched it flash and move, and I pet it's head a little bit and it seemed to respond.
Then on about the 5th or 6th song, the lights faded out and the dog stopped moving. I took the batteries I had put in my camera just before work and placed them in the dog. So I took out the same batteries and put them back in the camera, only to find a "low battery" graphic on my LCD screen.
Needless to say, this will be going back to the store. I'm disappointed, because it seemed like a neat thing and it certainly was cool to play with during it's short life. But I'm not spending 30 bucks and money for God knows how many batteries to give the thing a good home.
If you buy the iDog for your kid, here is what will happen. They will play with it until you get sick of buying batteries. Then it will be thrown at a younger sibling, kicked around, or dunked in the water until you get tired of it and place it on the upper shelf of the hall closet. It will be given a second chance when you have your garage sale, but no one will want it because they won't want to pay 2 dollars for your 30 dollar mistake. So back in the closet it will go until Christmas time, when the Marines come around asking for Toys for Tots donations. You'll find the original box, dust off the dog and grab your tax deductible receipt. The dog will be passed along from until it winds up in the hands of a mentally deranged 11 year old child whereupon it will meets its doom under a magnifying glass and sunlight.
So save yourself the drama and just get your kid a real dog. No matter how much crap you have to pick up off the carpet, you'll be better off in the long run.

Simply play something new and i-dog entertains you with expressive movements and flashing LED lights that change color! Works with most portable and non-portable electronic audio devices. Plus he easily connects to any standard headphone jack with the included dual-plug cable. Hasbro i-Dog Robotic Speaker Features Moves and grooves to your music Works with most music players Cool, compact design with dancing LED lights Easily connects to any standard headphones Requires 3AA batteries Hasbro i-Dog Robotic Speaker Includes I-Dog Plug Cable User Guide Move over, man?s best friend, the iDog?s here! Nourished exclusively on music (although, like all of us, it appreciates a little positive attention), the palm-sized iDog moves and grooves to the rhythm of your musical beat. For a robotic canine, the iDog is remarkably expressive, employing an entertaining assortment of flashing lights, head tilts, ear lifts, and even growls (should you flick its tail). Plug it into a portable music device with the included dual connector cable, and watch it respond while the built-in speaker plays along. All dogs like to be off the leash, however, so iDog can go wireless, too--simply place it next to a speaker, or take it anywhere music is playing. With such winning design, even those skeptical of robotic toys may find themselves giving it a pat on the head to reward it for rocking well done, or pressing its nose to let the pup take a nap. Multicolored lights, sounds, and movements, along with a "personality" programmed by your continued musical input, keep the iDog fun and interesting. --Heather Lyndon
