Toys and Games Reviews of Hasbro Star Wars Obi-Wan Force Action Extending LightsaberCustomer Review: Lots of fun, won't be around for long though Summary: 3 Stars
I bought a blue and a red light saber for my nephews for Christmas and then another two for myself and a friend for a Star Wars party recently this year. They are really fun. They made noise and lit up. My nephews didn't pay attention to any other gifts on Christmas morning! Also, all of my friends enjoyed playing with the other set at our party. The only downside is that they aren't very durable at all and are easily battered. But really, I had expected that when I bought them.
I think this item is a good deal. It's fun to play with, doesn't cost much, and won't annoy you for too long! haha.
Good buy. I'd recommend it.
Description of Hasbro Star Wars Obi-Wan Force Action Extending LightsaberUse the Force with the amazing Force Action Lightsabers! These weapons of Force-users everywhere have blades that retract fully into the handle, and with the push of a button, spring into action, light up, and play real lightsaber sound effects! Obi-Wan Kenobi's blue lightsaber blade jumps out to slay Sith Lords and enemies of the Republic, and requires 3x 'AA' batteries (not included) for its lights and sounds. Remember this weapon is your life! Use the force with the incredible Force Action Lightsaber! Just like in the Star Wars movies, this toy weapon springs into action, lights up, and makes realistic lightsaber sounds. The weapon of choice for a young Jedi in training, this toy is recommended for children ages six and up.
The toy weapon is spring-activated and the blade is made of translucent blue plastic. View larger. View Side - Top. |
The blade itself lights up and makes realistic lightsaber sounds. View larger. | Just Like the Movies This lightsaber features the same design wielded by Obi-Wan Kenobi in the tremendous battles of the Clone Wars and in defeating some of the most diabolical villains of the dark side, from General Grievous to Darth Maul. For warriors who need to be prepared at any moment to duel with Sith Lords or enemies of the Republic, this weapon swiftly extends to over three feet long with the sliding of a button, and then it's ready to help save the galaxy. The spring-activated blade is made with translucent blue plastic. Built-in segments fully retract into the handle, and the blade is illuminated with bands of light. While it's intended for use against another lightsaber -- and not a person or animal -- the blade is built from a safer, softer plastic than the durable, hard plastic handle, just in case. The silver handle features dynamic looking black, gold, and red accents. Realistic Sounds For over 30 years, Stars Wars fans the world over have been inspired to make their own lightsaber sound effects, but now, the Force Action Lightsaber does it for you. The toy creates the distinctive power-activated "humming" drone that creates anticipation in moments between swings. This lightsaber also replicates the burst of electricity as the saber turns on and the blade extends as well as the "wave" of the blade as it hovers through the air. Using the Force Unlike the lightsabers of the Star Wars movie, the toy doesn't retract with the push of a button. After turning the weapon off, the blade can be collapsed by hand -- but be careful not to jam the blade too tightly into the handle. A couple of times while playing with the lightsaber, the blade did not extend when the power was activated; the sound effects started up, but the "on" button had to be pressed more than once to get the blade out. The on/off button looks as if it should also control the volume of the lightsaber -- but it does not. Parents who get sick of the "humming" can remove the batteries, as the lightsaber requires three AA batteries (not included) for its lights and sounds. But Obi-Wan Kenobi's Lightsaber wouldn't be half the fun without its glowing arc-wave energy blade, and the blue light is especially mesmerizing in the dark. While it's always exciting to fight against villains, the lightsaber is a great toy for young Jedis learning to wield the Force on their own.
