Toys and Games Reviews of Hasbro Power Tour Electric Guitar (Black)Customer Review: Really cool musical toy Summary: 5 Stars
This is a really cool electronic instrument. You actually will learn something about musical scales (There are 12 notes that you can play on the fret board...all the notes of a chromatic scale) If you want to play rock, you're all set...power chords all the way.
The guitar has a few modes...(1) playing (2) jamming with external audio (3) 'simon"-esque mode where you follow a pattern that the guitar shows you and (4) 'visualization mode' (you plug in a music source and the fretboard animates to the music while the guitar's speaker plays the audio)
You can also choose a different styles for the guitar so the notes you play will sound different (ex: with distortion, or echo, etc.) I find some of the mode to sound very similar.
Overall, it's a great piece of technology for a good price.
Customer Review: Can I Give It Six Stars? Seven? Awesome Guitar Toy! Summary: 5 Stars
Can I give it six stars?! Hands down the best birthday present my 12-year-old got. His 16-year-old brother loves it too. It feels great in the hands, with a nice heft, and shiny smooth "frets" and "strings" that work like touch pads -- no buttons, just touch. NICE.
It's educational, creative, and an awful lot of toy for not much money. BIG hit. It plays in several modes, you can play it like a regular guitar, or play along with your MP3 player plugged into the guitar, or do the fun exercises included in the guitar's pre-programmed tracks.
It has a fabulous real guitar sound, very loud, we have to keep telling him "Turn it down!" You don't actually need the amp they sell separately, but I think the grandparents are buying that for Xmas next. He will love that too.
Customer Review: This rocks! Summary: 5 Stars
I saw some videos on you tube of people playing the power tour guitar, and it really look cool, but I figured it was probably too hard to figure out and they would get frustrated. My 10 and 8 year old sons love it (and so do I)! It looks and feels like the real thing (only smaller) and has some really cool features. My ten year old son now wants the amplifier so he can really rock out! You can either play "free hand" on your own, you can play along with some preloaded songs, or it will teach you how to play some of the preloaded songs (good ones too!). I think this is better than guitar hero because you can take it anywhere and don't need to be glued to the tv to use it! Definitely their Christmas favorite and easily worth the money
Customer Review: This guitar really rocks! Summary: 5 Stars
I must say that I was surprised by how very awesome this guitar is. Everyone that has meddled with it at my house is hooked. It was a gift for my 5 year old and he loves rockin out. He hasn't grasped the learning part yet, but it is fairly simple. I, his grown up mother, love it. Hey, I'm playing "Smoke on the Water", I might become a rock star. This guitar is highly recommended by me for all ages. We don't have the amp yet, may not even get it. The colume control makes it possible to play quiet when others are sleeping or rock out loud when you wanna. All of the modes are very fun, as are the options (Indie, Punk, Metal, Rock) for the sound. I'd give it ten stars if I could!
Customer Review: Fun for dad too Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this guitar for my 9 year old son for Christmas. He wanted a guitar but I didn't want to spend the money to buy him a real one when I'm not sure how serious he'll be. I read the reviews of this item online and decided to buy it. I am very impressed with how much fun it is and must admit that I've played with it more than my son. Each of the 12 songs programmed into the guitar include a lesson on how to play it with each one getting progressively harder. It not only teaches the right notes but also the right method (strum, hammer or palm). The one drawback is that it's plastic and may break easily. Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase.
