Toys and Games Reviews of Hasbro Power Tour Electric Guitar (Black)Customer Review: 10 year old grandson loves it. Summary: 5 Stars
Although my grandson has not yet received his Power Tour Guitar
because it is a Christmas present this year....I know he loves
them.
He had a few of his 10 year old buddies over for a sleep
over........and one of his friends brought his power tour guitar.
My daughter told me that my grandson hardly paid any attention to
his buddies once he started playing the power tour guitar. He
absolutely loved it and couldn't put it down the whole night.
My daughter said that the noise level will probably make her
regret telling me about them...(laughing).....but she suggested
I buy one for each of my grandsons......so the 6 year old will have
one also. As a loving Nanie.....I of course bought them each
a power tour guitar...AND the "amps" to go with them.....(laughing).
I love what I read from the write ups here.....and from the video on
youtube.com so I am looking forward to their concert on Christmas
Day when they open them.
I do wish however that they could be plugged into an outlet and
not be only battery operated.....but... if they enjoy them then we
will keep a supply of batteries ready.
Customer Review: Lots of fun! Summary: 4 Stars
I bought two of these for my two sons (2 and 5). They both love playing the guitar and they are definitely the favorite Christmas gift this year. I have also been using them and I've been enjoying learning the songs.
As a tech-type, I was EXTREMELY impressed at how much went into this product. Each of the fret points are touch-sensitive. There are no buttons to push at all. The "strum" zone is motion-sensitive, so you don't really need to touch the strum board to play. There is a sensor behind the strum board to simulate palming the strings for a short-played interval. ALSO... (and this took me by surprise when I was messing around) there is a WAH sensor in at the top of the fret board that when you move it up, it will bend the note!
The song variety is really impressive. The difficulty increases as you move down the fret board. There are several familiar titles and everything is taught in stages. The one thing I wish it had was the ability to practice PART of the song instead of starting over at the beginning. BUT, for what it is, it's tons of fun.
I recommend this for the 5-8 range, but my 2yo likes the Jam mode alot.
You can't beat it for the price. =-]
Customer Review: Most played toy on Chrismas Summary: 5 Stars
I worried that this toy might be a bit juvenile for my 13 year old, but decided to give it a try because
of the good price (20.99 for white guitar.) The guitar was bit smaller than anticipated, but I was pleasantly surprised at what a hit it has been at our house.
My 13 year old son loves it, and has not put it down for very long since he got it yesterday. It is very fun and challenging for him. Although it takes some practice (which is good!) , he has steadily moved through the "learn" levels. Both my 9 year old daughter and 5 year old son love it too.
One reviewer said that it was frustrating and too hard, but we have not found that to be true. Once you figure out the basics, it's very simple. The levels start out very easy and uncomplicated and work up from there. It was addictive for the whole household--even for my husband and I! The only drawback is that you have the beat of the songs continually running through your mind long after the toy has been turned off!
Great fun and highly recommended! We were glad we took the chance on it. It has been the most played with toy this Christmas . . . and we got a lot of other fun stuff too!
Customer Review: Looking Forward to Version TWO... Summary: 5 Stars
This is what I would call a perfect toy guitar for kids (teens and adults too). I've got a 4 year old son and a 7 year old daughter and they both love it. I also gave one to my 11 year old god-son and he too loved it (his dad too). To be honest, I love the darn thing too (already mastered 5 songs). I can play an actual guitar but this thing really makes it very simple to teach kids how to strum and understand what a beat is (chords will come later). This is worth every penny.
The guitar teaches basic guitar skills that can be carried on once you jump to the real thing. It sticks to main chords (power), and I can see why this is classified as a toy. There is actually a lot more potential here, hence the title "Looking Forward to Version TWO". I actually play and own an acoustic and electric guitar. After figuring out the chords, I was actually able to to quickly play some songs that I play with my actual guitar (sounds pretty good too). My buddy (god-son's dad) thinks its great too. If anyone in "Tiger Electronics" is reading this review, awesome product!!!
Customer Review: AMAZING! Summary: 5 Stars
Okay, so I gave this gift to my TWO year old....which might be a little on the young side.....but WOW, does he LOVE it! He got it yesterday for Christmas, and won't put the thing down (seriously) Totally fun, very educational.....can't miss. Every now and then a product comes along that simply blows everything else out of the water. THIS IS IT.
After checking out their website, I was amazed to see all the cool features. I'm a guitar player by trade, and its got a ton of realistic stuff! Palm mutes, hammer ons, you name it! Totally agree with one of the other reviewers....put the video games down, and get their brains working overtime! I'm recommending it to all my friends with young kids!
10 out of 10
BTW- I'd give it a much higer score if there was anything better than 10 out of 10 :0)
