Toys and Games Reviews of Hasbro Playskool Lullaby Gloworm

Customer Review: Love it - not too loud! Make sure it on play mode not demo mode.
Summary: 5 Stars

We just got a baby glo-worm for our 11 week old daughter. It looks diffrent than the one pictured here. (I am not sure if there are 2 different models, one for infants and one for older kids?) We love this toy as it is so sweet, very soft and snuggly, and easy for little hands to turn on. I can see this toy becoming one of her favortie toys. The only problem we have is keeping 2 year old big sister from stealing it! :-)

Those who think it is too loud maybe have not switch it from Demo mode to play mode?
There is a switch that has 3 options - light only, demo, and play mode. The toy is packaged in demo mode and only plays short samples of the songs and the faces only lights up for a short time. Once the play mode is switched on it plays and lights up longer, and I think it is quieter in play mode.

Customer Review: Let your baby see it before you buy it!
Summary: 2 Stars

I grew up with my own precious gloworm, which I absolutely adored, and was thrilled to see this online! We purchased it, but should have waited to see it in person before doing so. My daughter is 4 months, and does not like it at all. The "glow" is quite bright and the "lulubies" are rather loud. We were able to hear the music clearly on the other side of our home - much too loud for us. However, my older toddler did seem to like it, but I still returned it because I did not think I could stand hearing the music over and over again (which is what toddlers do!) So, if you are looking to purchase this for an older toddler/child, it could be good - if you are buying it for a baby, let the baby see it first --- it was much to loud and bright for our tenderhearted little one...

Customer Review: You CAN turn off the sounds!
Summary: 4 Stars

I'm writing this review more as a help to other Moms out there who have the Gloworm and want to turn off that loud music!

Open the Gloworm and find the white plastic cylinder. Look for the switch on the side and turn the sound OFF. It works! Longer glow and no noise -- whoo hooo! There are three options on the white cylinder. One plays longer tunes at lower volume, and that is sort of nice. In either of the alternative settings the glow face lasts a LOT longer than in the initial setting.

My son doesn't seem to appreciate this toy as much as other babies I know appreciated theirs. Then again, he's only 6 months old so perhaps in time he will like it. At least with the sound turned off now I am comfortable if he wants to snuggle with it (it won't wake him up!).

Customer Review: Gloworm not the one pictured
Summary: 2 Stars

Playskool came out with a new Gloworm in 2006. The one pictured and described here (with the star on the cap) is the 2003 model. I much prefer the 2003 and expected it when I ordered 4 of these. Since I got the 2006 instead, I sent them back.
The main difference between the two is how easy they are to activate. The 2003 one easily plays a lullaby and lights up when squeezed virtually anywhere, but the 2006 model has a patch on the tummy that the child has to press to hear a tune and get the face to glow. That's fine for 8 months and up (and not in the middle of the night), but the other one is more user friendly for all ages.
Unfortunately, the 2003 model is unavailable everywhere. I am just writing to let everybody know that [...]does not have the 2003 model either.

Customer Review: Oh my gosh - - it does have a switch!
Summary: 5 Stars

I am so glad I read the review from the person who pointed out that there is a switch inside the Glow Worm that makes the songs longer and quieter! It really doesn't matter to me anyway because it was Grandma who bought my daughters their own Glow Worms for Christmas and I just love them! In fact, I want one for my own! The colors are appealing, the worm has a very sweet baby face, and it is easy to activate the music and "glow" face (just lightly press). I would suggest to the makers of Glow Worm that they make it clear on the package that it has three settings and that it is in DEMO mode (of course maybe they did and I was too busy tearing open the package!). I think it's a very comforting toy and I have decided to give "Glowie" as a gift to all my friends with new babies!
