Customer Review: Needs a couple of upgrades

This was a gift for our two year old daughter. She is now three, and the house still stands! Its cloth walls are very nice, but there are a couple of issues. First, the house is in two pieces. This is very nice to make it more compact when not in use, but when my daughter is playing, there is nothing to keep it together - velcro would be nice to have on the floor of the cottage to attach the two halves together. Second, the door is made to have a top half and bottom half - not the greatest idea, my daughter just needs one door piece to open and close, not two separate pieces.
On a good note, the frame is pretty sturdy - one day my daughters decided to flip the halves to the side and make them into boats! Again, velcro attaching the two house halves together may have prevented this, but the frame stayed together and the house still stands!

When assembling cottage, pay close, close attention to directions. Overall it's not difficult to put together, but there are a few small details that, if not done correctly, can lead to incredible frustration not only in the lucky assembler, but the small child(ren) eagerly waiting to move into the cottage. Once assembled, it's hours of fun. Even my tall, eleven year old son couldn't resist playing with his two year old sister for a bit inside the house. The door has magnets inside little latches that makes it appear as if they really lock. I put a little battery powered lamp inside, but once the bulb burnt out (and I still haven't replaced it since X-mas) I noticed my daughter doesn't go inside the playhouse if it's dark. I would suggest purchasing some sort of safe light to be used inside for an even more enjoyable, house-like affect.Customer Review: Easy to put together? You have to be joking...

Supposedly this is "easy" to put together..sure teh frame is easy and as long as you have about 8 hands to help with the cloth part for on top, a genius IQ to figure out the picture directions, I'm sure thats helpful but doing it on your own, forget it. I'm still trying to figure it out and sitting here frustrated after an HOUR of velcroing these pieces to the frame to have it look weird...its not fitting right. My kids have knocked over my attempts, putting it together a few times and for the moment while i sit here and type this out of sheer frustration the annoyingness of it all, I threw a sheet over the thing and they are just as happy with that. Haven't even attempted the stove, nor do I really want to at this point...anyone want this "fun" toy?? I'll gladly ship it off to another person who wants to deal with it.Customer Review: My 2 1/2 year old loves her cottage!

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my 2 1/2 year old daughter. She absolutely loves it. When pushed together as a house, the inside is very roomy. We did not buy all the accessories, so she just takes whatever she wants with her inside the house. It came with the stove and she also has a baby bed inside.
The only downside to it, was putting it together! It took me almost 2 hours, some of the poles were hard to push together, and putting the actual tent over the structure was a bit difficult. You have to make sure everything is snapped together perfectly. I have read some reviews where they say to have 2 people, which would definitely cut build time in half! Aside from that, I would still buy it all over again. Its a beautiful little house, probably about 4ft x 4ft. I would recommend this to anyone.

I want to issue a warning to anyone who might be giving this as a gift. If a child will be opening this at a party or at Christmas please, have the child open all other gifts first. There is no one-upping this gift. My girls refused to finish opening presents after finding The Rose-Petal-Cottage Santa had brought. THANKS SANTA! They were completely happy and content with their new home. When the time came to put away the cottage they were crushed. So we have found another use as temporary headboards for their toddler beds or we put one piece at each end of the bed then throw a sheet over and make a big tent. I have washed one time (had to) in washer on cold, knit-delicate then air dried held up just fine. I am really impressed with how entertained my girls are, it really holds their attention. I am impressed.
