I bought the cottage for my 2 year old daughter. Little did I know that it would be such a big hit, even with my 6 year old!! Although it took almost 1 hour and 45 min to put together, it was well worth it. The metal frame was not difficult to put together, but we did have to bang it on the floor and apply a lot of pressure to get the pieces to fit tightly with the plastic conectors. The most difficult and time consuming part was fitting the canvas over the frames. The girls couldn't wait to get into it, so much so that they were playing with it while we were still trying to put the second half together. The first night that we got it the girls spent and hour and a half playing together, without fighting. Such a great toy that fosters imagination, creativity, and independent play. We bought the sink to go with the stove and this too was a big hit. We did not buy the nursery set because we have the Bitty Baby crib from American Girl that fits nicely in the house, although it does not leave much room for the Bitty changing table when the house is closed. My girls have spent countless hours playing house, tea party, and their favorite game baby and we have only had the cottage for about a week. Super great purchase that I would highly recommend to anyone with a little girl in their life.Customer Review: Very Cute, Good Idea, Hard to Put Together

My daughter is almost 3, and she got this for Christmas. She loves it, and started playing in it immediately. All the accessories are great, but the big pink arm chair is TERRIBLE. It takes up too much room, and isn't designed properly. Don't bother with it; I'm glad I only paid $[...] for it. The house is soo cute, it even has a two-part door (I don't know what they are called) with a mailbox. The curtains are real. The colors are bright and the attention to detail is great. I don't know how everyone else had such an easy time with putting this together though! It isn't complicated and you don't even really need the directions.. the concept is simple. A frame with a fabric cover. What IS hard is physically getting the pieces together and the fabric pulled onto the frame. About half of my plastic connectors were nearly impossible to get together, and when I put all my weight on them the plastic was shaving off because it wasn't a proper fit! Some of them went in perfectly. I did get them all tight finally, after nearly pulling all my muscles and getting stressed out... then I couldn't pull the covers on. They are such a tight fit that they almost didn't go on. My daughter loves it, so it was worth it... but I wish I hadn't had such a hard time with it.Customer Review: Must Have for Little Girls. Cannot say enough good things about the Rose Petal Cottage. My 2 year old got this from Santa for Xmas. Very easy to put together, just follow the directions and no issues at all. Material is very durable. We have a 2yr old & 6yr old who can be rough with it and no problems at all. This is definitely quality. Our 2yr old plays with it all the time. Our 6yr old plays with it with her too. Yes, the stove etc are minature, but who cares, they love it! I thought for sure the washer, stove etc would be flimsy being "fiberboard", but they are super sturdy. The whole set has held up great. We have the stove, the washer & chair. I would recommend not to get more pieces than that. They need room to add in all their babies , pillows & other stuff they drag into it! I would definitely recommend this to other moms. Great for imaginations & pretend play. Also, definitely buy it on Amazon.com. I looked at all other places before Xmas and the best price is really here. Target had it $24 more expensive than Amazon and that was on sale. So many toys these days are not good quality. My Daughter, 2 1/2, and Son, 5, love playing with this set. I like the way one piece sits inside the other when playtime is finished. I have even set it up with the open areas facing each other to make a square house.
I do question the durablity of the plastic connectors. My kids are very active and move the pieces around, sometimes not making sure that the frame is flat on the floor, i.e. a toy get between the frame and floor. The connectors bend if they or the frame is stepped upon and are difficult to straighten. They are also starting to show signs of splitting where the frame pieces meet the connectors.
Great product if your child or childern leaves it where you place it. Provides hours of imaginative play.

It is now near the end of April and the play house is gone. Several seams came apart, a couple of holes from wear, 5 connectors completely split, several supports were bent beyond fixing. THIS IS NOT an item for children who want to move it around. Sadly it did not last for very long. I will not be replacing it.

The cottage is great. I would say it is a little difficult to put together as the instructions are extremely helpful but once you get the idea of how the whole frame is supposed to fit together it goes faster. I usually build all of our furniture myself and this wasn't easy so it does take some experience. I also figured out quickly I should use a hammer to fit the metal pieces together onto the plastic parts. I also did need my husbands help with putting the fabric cover on the frame in the end, so it's not a one person job. Besides it not being the easiest thing to build (at least it was easy to get out of the packaging because we all know how hard that is anymore), it is really awesome. Very pretty design, and very big. My 2 year old is the perfect size for it. She loves having her own little space. The fabric/pole construction does seem a little rickity, but I would rather a lightweight toy fall over on my daughter than an extremely heavy plastic one. (She's a monkey and will climb on everything so I figure everything is bound to fall over, and so far I've been right.) We all absolutely love it.
