Customer Review: Beautiful, functional, well-built ROSE DREAM
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of the best purchases we have made for our now 4-year-old daughter. We purchased this for her as a Christmas gift as she had seen it repeatedly on TV and in magazines and had fallen in love with it. I am surprised that more people didn't have trouble with the assembly, but maybe that was due to the fact that we were swamped with putting thigs together at 2 AM on Christmas Eve! I got the frame set up without a glitch, but for some reason, I had lots of trouble getting the material onto the frame. As it turned out, I had the framed turned backwards, and I could've looked at the pictures in the directions a bit more carefully.

The final product is a masterpiece! This toy leaves lots of room for creative play, and even my 3-year-old son has really enjoyed playing in the cottage. My daughter has insisted on sleeping in it, which we allowed, but only with the 2 pieces open a bit. On Christmas morning, she ran right to it, and after a bit emerged only to grab her other presents and take them to the cottage to open! The cottage is well-constructed and is not the usual tacky mess cluttering up our living room. My daughter LOVES that she can completely enclose herself in the cottage and play. I love the warm pastels and attention to detail.

A word of caution: I bought the washer and the sink, and the cottage comes with the stove. I know that there are TONS of other accessories that you can purchase with this set, but there is only so much room inside the cottage. With these 3 pieces, one side of the cottage is pretty much taken up. I would suggest choosing pieces carefully; chances are, your daughter will be more thrilled with the cottage itself than the accessories. In fact, more than once, I have seen my daughter take out all of the accessories to give herself more play room inside. I would ALSO suggest doing some comparison shopping on the accessories as Amazon's prices have drastically risen since I purchased mine.

This is a fantastic purchase! You will not be disappointed with this set!

Customer Review: 1 year later STILL a big hit - 3 1/2 yr old girl & 2 1/2 yr old boy
Summary: 5 Stars

Santa had this thing all set up for our near-3-year-old on Christmas morn. Both she and her 19-month-old brother have enjoyed it so much, as well as all our holiday guests and friends since.

We got this for an extremely good price on one of Amazon's super deal days, plus we had free shipping. We got it at almost 75% off. But I would have paid full price had I known just how much my kids would love it.

We have pop-ups that we put up occasionally for the kids to play in. They rough and tumble, and the things fall over. This play cottage has a metal, more durable frame with zip-up canvas to make it stand on its own. Yes, it can be knocked over. But only if it's intentional. A stiff breeze would send a pop-up flying whereas this thing would absolutely stay put.

I love that it stores inside itself. It basically comes in two large frames, one slightly smaller than the other. When you want to store it away for the day (we keep our's up all the time now), you can just slide the slightly smaller frame into the bigger one. Voila!

Adorable features: dutch door with magnetic clasps - the kids LOVE this feature, several windows, one of which has a curtain you can Velcro open, a chimney from which you can see all the way thru.

And the attention to detail on the fabric - there are roses and vines entwining the roof, part of the floor is made to look like hardwood while the other is supposed to be carpet.

I highly recommend this toy. I am not sure if you need all the furniture that goes with it. It came with an adorable stove, which my kids use to cook their Mr. Potato Heads or stash sippy cups for hiding, but even empty, they will drag their own toys in just to play in a somewhat private place.

Excellent toy! We are extremely satisfied! Also great for role-modeling after mom and dad, so I consider highly educational and great for imagination.

Customer Review: Wonderfully cute and adorable for 4 and 6 year old
Summary: 5 Stars

We purchased this for our two girls, now 4 and 6, when they outgrew their Dora tent and could not fit into it anymore, I didn't have any luck finding another tent similar to this one, we tried another tent that quickly fell apart on our first day of use. We wanted something that would be large enough to accommodate both of them, yet not as big as a room. I think the level of detail and attention given to the overall design of this cottage is wonderful. My girls enjoy it and it doesn't look to bad down stairs, when other kids visit, they love it and end up in the tent.

The durability is hard to rate, yes it is very light, my girls can move it around and reconfigure it themselves, as well as re-arrange the stove and other toys in it. I think it would have been nice if the plastic connectors where metal or reinforced in some way, as I am not sure if alot of pressure was applied if they could snap. But I would not say this is a flimsy product, if you search and compare tents and what is available. I think this is a great value with all the accessories and pretend toys included. I wish I would have seen this sooner. I am happy to have purchased this for my girls. We have had it now for about 7 months and it still looks like when we bought it. I hope to have it last for the use of my third child on the way. The inflatable chair works, but does tip to the side, since my girls are bigger its not a concern, but if you are sitting an unsteady younger toddler, it might not be best for that age group. I wish the house would have been a tad taller and wider, but understand for marketability the aim was to keep this semi compact to appear to more consumers.

Overall, we enjoy it and everyone who sees it comments on how beautifully designed it is.

Customer Review: Cute, roomy, versatile home within a home
Summary: 4 Stars

My daughter saw this cottage on TV months before Christmas, and it was her number one item on her list for Santa. She and her sister (both 4) play in it all the time, and it's very popular with any little visitors they have over. It's very pretty, made of a durable nylon-like fabric with decorative features preprinted on it such as shutters, pink exterior walls, and pink roses on vines spilling from the window and crawling across the roof to the pink chimney. Inside, one floor looks like wood planking, the other like carpet, and each half of the house is decorated with different pretty patterned "wallpaper." The house is in two halves, one that fits inside the other for storage and they are very lightweight for moving. The halves can be pulled apart for lots of playspace (great when extra friends are over), or they can be put together to make the enclosed house. Lots of versatility. A favorite feature is the blue Dutch door that closes with magnets. When the girls want to see "Who is it?" they can peek out a window or open the top half of the door. The house comes with a sturdy little stove, other accessories are bought separately. The girls already had a pretty pink loveseat from Target which fits nicely in the house. They hung a "chandelier" (slinky) from the underside of the chimney. They play in the house nearly every day after preschool. It's a perfect little girls playhouse, with the roses, fabric curtains, lace trim, and so on. I was going get a collapsible (fold for storage) white cardboard house with pretty printed details the girls could color themselves, but they fell in love with this house first. It's expensive, but I got it for far less by buying through Amazon.

Customer Review: Exceeded Expectations
Summary: 5 Stars

We bought this for my 4 1/2 year old daughter. At the top of her Christmas list was "a house" for her beloved stuffed bear. With Grandma and Uncle chipping in, she got the cradle and changing station, the sink, and the washing machine, in addition to the oven that it comes with. She also got a "Next Generation" miniature table/chair and tea set for her bear that goes perfectly with this. She LOVES this cottage. My two year old neice can stand in the cottage, but my daughter has to duck down. I'm not complaining about that though, because if you see the advertising for it, most of the kids are either squatting or kneeling when they play with it, so we figured she would be tall for it. It doesn't matter though. She loves the dutch door (she calls the bottom portion the doggy door), the window curtains, the chimney, just everything about it, and all the accessories. She doesn't mind sitting/kneeling to play with it at all.

If you have ever put up one of those tents with the plastic poles with stretchy cords inside of the poles, this is totally different. It comes with a metal frame that you piece together and is sooo much more durable. The cottage material is nylon like a play tent but a little thicker. Once you assemble the frame and figure out which way to place the material, it's pretty simple to put together. The side without the chimney is slightly smaller than the side with the chimney and can fit right inside of the chimney side if you want to consolidate it for storage. I have a feeling this one won't be getting put away for a while though.
