Toys and Games Reviews of Hasbro Playskool Busy Ball PopperCustomer Review: Great toy. Plenty of giggles and fun. Summary: 5 Stars
Our baby got this for her first birthday. I'll admit that I had seen this in the store and didn't think much of it. But this gift was the total hit of the party. It only took a few times of showing the baby how to push the button before she could do it herself and put the balls in the right spot for them to roll back up. I like how they are being pushed up by air so when she holds the balls down from popping out, she can't damage any mechanics.
*She likes the music, we don't find it to be too loud
*So far it's been knocked over several times, as she uses it to pull herself to stand up with and nothing has fallen apart.
*We have hardwood floors so it's more fun for her if we play together and I help wrangle the balls, because they go everywhere, but watching them pop is half of the fun!
I've bought this for another other little friend on his 1st birthday. At the toy store it came in three different versions, boy colors and girl colors that both have the bug sticker on the button plunger and cost about $10 extra, and this version which is the same (I think) but you save some money by not getting the bug stickers.
Customer Review: Your child will love watching you chase after the balls! Summary: 3 Stars
Our 8 month old daughter received this as a gift, and really seems to enjoy watching it. However, I'm starting to think that she gets more enjoyment out of watching me chase after the balls, than out of the toy itself.
The force at which the balls pop out is unpredictable, to say the least. On one hand, you can rest assured that they never come out fast enough to cause even the slightest injury. On the other, sometimes the ball will hover over the opening, and other times, it'll get fired high enough that it won't land on the ramp.
If you're looking for a quiet toy, run away now. When operational, the motor sounds like a DustBuster and it's mixed with circus music as well as "pop" and "boing" noises. Personally, it doesn't annoy me. But I can see how it could be grating on the nerves if this becomes your child's favorite toy.
One last note... our daughter instinctively wants to use this as something to prop herself up with. This toy is much lighter than it looks like, so be especially watchful when you're playing with this.
Customer Review: Kids LOVE this toy, but can be DANGEROUS and BREAKS EASILY!!! Summary: 1 Stars
We bought this toy for our 15 month old daughter. She and her friends loved this toy so much! It was their absolute FAVORITE!
Maybe my daughter is too curious, but she was ALWAYS sticking other toys in the spout. We constantly had to dig toys out. Not a big deal, but can be tricky and annoying! She also got her arm stuck in it at one point which is quite scary.
Another complaint about the toy, the fan broke. This toy only worked for about 4-5 MONTHS. My daughter was soooo upset when the fan wouldn't turn on anymore. The music still worked, but the wonder of this toy was with the fan. I took this toy apart to see if there was anyway to fix it, and sadly, there wasn't. We ended up having to trash it.
The other issue we had, because the fan is kinda like a hair dryer (without heat), it once caught and sucked in my daughters hair!
While my daughter loved the toy, it was just really unsafe. Granted we had the older version, bought in 2005. HOPEFULLY the newer version corrected all these issues. Stuck arms and toys, crappy fan, and sucking in children's hair can be dangerous and frusterating.
Customer Review: Who knew how much fun they'd have? Summary: 5 Stars
I must admit that when my mom gave this toy to my 12 month old, I didn't think it would be a hit - boy was I wrong! Both the baby and my 3 1/2 year old think the ball fountain is neat. With this toy you push the plunger, the music starts and the balls begin popping out of the top, rolling down the shoot and popping out the top again. Sometimes the balls just keep going through the circuit and sometimes they fly out of the toy and roll across the floor. My daughters enjoy it all! From a parent point, the negatives are that the music is a little annoying and the five balls roll all over and need to be picked up again and again. The positive is that it keeps my little ones engrossed. The 3 1/2 year old can operate it all by herself and the 1 year old can play with it with only a little assistance from me (helping her corral loose balls and pushing the plunger). We haven't had any trouble with the sturdiness of the balls, but the yellow funnel does get knocked off occasionally. It goes back on easily enough, but disrupts the play temporarily. Bottom line is that we really like this toy and are happy to have it in our toy collection
Customer Review: The young and the old Summary: 4 Stars
My daughter, Callie, received this toy as a gift for Christmas (so my review is of a short period of ownership). Although she is only 6 1/2 mos, she very much enjoyed watching the balls move throughout the toy. Her 2 year old cousin, Lola, also enjoyed the toy, but could not grasp the concept that the balls come out of the upper hole and the toy became frustrating for Callie, Lola, and us supervising adults when the balls were put into the upper hole causing them to become stationary inside the toy. The other minorly frustrating thing is that when the balls come flying out, they hit each other or the toy itself and get scattered around the room - thankfully not dangerously. The picture on the box is somewhat deceptive when it comes to this fact. All in all, I don't think it's a bad toy, but could've used a bit more thought into the making.
Pros:
Entertaining from infant thru toddler
Colorful
Educates
Short self-timed shut off
Does not take up a lot of room
Can be turned on easily
Cons:
Balls can be lost
Occasional non-movement of balls
Short self-timed shut off
