Toys and Games Reviews of Hasbro Playskool Busy Ball Popper

Customer Review: The BEST MONEY we've EVER spent on a toy!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

We bought this toy for my daughter when she was about 18 months old. Now she is 4 and still plays with it! My older daughter (who is now 6) has also ALWAYS loved this toy! We actually had to buy another one for my 18 month old son so he could play with it since it is still his sister's favorite toy! It has been dropped I don't know how many times but it just keeps on going!

Now- a few notes. First off, the music is loud. I just put a piece of tape over the speaker, poked a tiny hole through the tape and problem solved! Second, the track wants to fall off, so I super glued it on and now I don't have to fix it constantly. The other problem is the lack of balls. The Christmas we bought it we had also purchased some shatter-proof Christmas balls for the Christmas tree. Our older daughter pulled the hook off one of the balls and stuck it in before we could stop her. Turns out she had a wonderful idea! It flew like crazy and we had a lot of them, so I just cut the raised part off and we've been using those ever since. (The dollar store sells them for $1.29 for a package of 12.) They will crack when stepped on, but at that price I can't complain. So I stock up on tubes of those balls and every so often I pull out a new package and it's FUN FUN FUN all over again!

We have bought some toys over the years that have BOMBED!!! We've spent more than what we spent on the ball popper and the kids ended up losing interest after a day, if that, even when they BEGGED for it. This toy has some serious lasting power and I am so quick to recommend it to everyone buying for a little one! Happy shopping!

Customer Review: MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT!!! Save your $$$
Summary: 1 Stars

This is a completely pointless toy. After reading the reviews, I purchased it thinking it would be fun. My husband and I sat there along with our 8 month old son in shock that someone actually presented this idea and it was manufactured. The sound is like a hair dryer on the low setting and they try to "mask" this with music that you can barely hear. Next, the balls start to pop up and they re-enter the "machine" leaving my son nothing to do...UNTIL, they started not making back into the machine and they popped all over our living room which made him burst into tears.

I thought, maybe this is just our son. When I had friends over for the SuperBowl, I busted out the ball popper. From 5 months to 15 months, there was a stare down at this machine. We communitively decided that it takes 8 adults and 5 children to play with this toy. 4 adults to chase after the ball and 4 to calm the children. While this is obviously just poking fun at the ridiculousness of this toy, I use it to illustrate that this is a completely waste of your money and we are sending ours back. I couldn't even convince one of the families to take it home with them...for free.

Overall, I am shocked that there were so many positive review and if you want a toy that your child with engage in with their pals, invest in something like the Rollipop Starter Set All of the kids played together with this toy for well over half an hour.

Customer Review: LOVE THIS TOY!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have seen the other negative reviews on this toy. I read them because I could not imagine anyone saying anything bad about it! My son absolutely loves this toy. We got it for him about 6 weeks ago. Yes it is VERY LOUD (both music and fan), in fact much louder than all of his other toys. I've gotten used to it though and don't mind. At first, the loud music did seem to scare him but after a few days of hs older siblings playing with it, he seemed to get the idea and figured out how to push the plunger himself. Now he pushes it all the time. The balls do go flying (how anyone coudl say the fan isn't strong enough, I don't know) sometimes, and sometimes he chases them and sometimes I have to dig them out of places. Once again, that's ok since the whole idea is for his enjoyment and development. And it gives me a little added exercise. He has tried to stick other toys down the hole but, anticipating that he'd do this, I'm really careful about which toys I leave out for him when he's playing with this so that he's can't get anything too stuck. So most of the other toys he has have pieces too big to really fit far down the hole and I can just pull them out. I must have the newer model with the cover because we have not had any "danger" issues with him getting stuck or even trying to get his arm stuck. He is also always supervised when playing with things like this. Bottom line is my son loves it and so do I! If you want tons of fun and laughter with your baby I highly recommend this toy!

Customer Review: Think twice if you have a dog!
Summary: 2 Stars

Okay, so I just had to add my two cents in here in case anyone else out there has an active dog in the house like I do. Someone gave me this toy for my five month old and he seems quite entertained by it, except for the fact that the balls shoot out EVERYWHERE and this, in turn, makes our Jack Russell Terrier go absolutely nuts. The baby cannot play with the toy without the dog jumping all over the place to grab the balls. Yes, we do remove the dog from the room if the baby is playing with the toy. But right now the baby is too little to chase after the balls himself, so eventually he winds up with nothing to play with in the toy itself (you need to keep feeding the balls back into the machine to get them to spin around and shoot out again). It is recommended for older babies for this reason! Anyway, if you have a family pet who is playful and likes to be involved in everything like our does, you might want to think twice about this one. I was just hoping I could spare someone else who might have the same problem. If you don't have a dog and you don't mind your baby crawling after the balls or eventually cleaning them up yourself, then go for it! The music is cute, the product is colorful, and the whooshing sounds that the balls make as they pop in and out are really fun. I'm not sure how much educational value it has, other than maybe helping some fine motor skills if the baby can catch the balls and dump them back into the machine. But I guess it could be entertaining.

Customer Review: My 10 month old AND my 3 year old enjoy it!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This toy is GREAT! I initially saw the commercial for it right after my youngest daughter was born. I wanted to get it then but knew it was just too early. I forgot all about it until the other day while at Toys R Us. I saw it and immediately purchased it. My youngest daughter is 10 months old now and when we turned this toy on she was beside herself with excitement. I will say that she was a little startled at first with the music and the balls popping up by themselves but after about a day or so of play this is her favorite toy! I also have a hard time keeping my 3 year old from taking it over.

It's true that the balls do fly out occasionally but we manage to keep track of them. I don't have any problems with the motor/fan drowning out the music. It's very durable. Even if my 3 year old manages to pull it apart it snaps back together easily. I know someone mentioned that it was top heavy and that it turns over when their child leans on it to stand up. I just wanted to say that this toy was not meant to be one to assist with standing. My 10 month old sometimes leans on it to stand up too but I don't expect it to hold her.

The bottom line is this...it plays music and makes balls pop up and go around and around by themselves. It entertains my daughters endlessly. It was a genius idea and if for some reason it broke tomorrow I would go out and buy another one!
