Toys and Games Reviews of Hasbro Playskool Busy Ball PopperCustomer Review: Long lasting fun Summary: 5 Stars
My four year old boy, who is behind in development and doesn't care for toys, played with the ball popper for SIX HOURS straight on his birthday. His six year old brother tried to play it whenever he could, and I spent all day keeping him away. Later he played with it by the hour.
The only draw back is, I totally lost my concentration that day, listening to the music plus fan blowing all day long. How much do you like The Flight of the Bumble Bee? To me, it sound as annoying as a real bee buzzing around after I heard it 100 times in a day! It was worth it, though, seeing my kids so happy! (I could have gone to a different room, of course, but I didn't think of it until my brain was numb.)
It takes 4 DD batteries, and so far it has run 20 hours without needing to change battery. I really like the design of having the fan run only for a while after the baby smacks the switch. Then it stops until the baby hits the switch again, so it really saves on batteries.
Lovely toy, don't hesitate to buy it now!
And thanks so much, Fisher Price!
Customer Review: Absolutely Obnoxious... Summary: 2 Stars
I have passed by this toy countless times in the isles of Wal-mart, but never felt the need to purchase it. Well, my 10 month old son received it for Christmas and it's fast become my least favorite toy. There is no volume control, which is a huge bummer since this plays extremely loud music, and the fan that pushes the balls up sounds like a blow dryer. Very loud.
The worst thing though is the balls pop up so hard and fast that they fly all over the place. My son seems to enjoy the balls popping up and cycling through the toy, but I have to sit there with it and keep my hand over the top to prevent the balls from flying all over, otherwise, they go everywhere and he just loses interest. We have light carpeting and they still manage to roll under furniture or across the room.
In the end, I'd say avoid this. It's definitely not worth the trouble. Way too noisy and too much work. I think I'm gonna put it away till he's a bit older, and can chase after the balls himself. I'm just thankful I listened to my gut and didn't spend my own money on this colossal pain-in-the-rear!
Customer Review: FANTASTIC! entertainment for hours! Summary: 5 Stars
This product seems somewhat boring from an adult point of view, but my son received it for his first birthday last year and has played with it for a good portion of every single day!!! He gets bored with toys fast, but not this one! He is turning 2 in a month, and still plays with it every day. I can only say that about three toys that he owns (and he owns tons of toys), but only three that he has played with on an everyday basis. The cons are that the toy is kind of noisy and the balls get lost easy and are nearly impossible to replace through Hasbro. The pros- you child will love it and will play with it over and over again, giving you some free time for other things! It is definitely worth the price!!!! Buy this toy for ever child's 1st birthday and you will not be disappointed!
The other two toys I highly recommend for sheer entertainment- the fisher-price rainforest jumperoo (for 6+ months), and the bounce and spin zebra (for 18+ months). For educational toys, go with Leapfrog stuff! But fun toys, definitely these three listed here! Worth every penny!
Customer Review: Lots of fun Summary: 5 Stars
After being told that this toy had some bad reviews on here I decided I had to write a review for this toy. I got this toy for my 15 month old because she loves to play with balls and she loves music, and she LOVES this toy. My 3 year old also loves chasing the balls when they pop, and it has caught the attention of my 6 year old also. I read a few reviews about complaints that the balls pop out and go all over the room. I just want to say that the name of the toy is a BALL POPPER. Yes it does pop balls, but they certainly don't go all over the room to the point where the parent NEEDS to chase them. I have yet to help chase balls. My 15 month old carries the toy all over the house, and one day was playing with it on her older sisters twin sized bed and didn't loose any of the balls off the bed. The balls stay within a foot or 2 of the toy. The only exception would maybe be if you were playing on a hard floor, then they may bounce or roll further. Also I saw someone say that the toy doesn't work right with less than 5 balls, we haven't had any problems with this either.
Customer Review: Fun for the active toddler. Summary: 3 Stars
I love the idea of this toy, and hopefully when my son is a little older (he just turned 1) it will be more fun.
If you get this toy for the non-walking child, you will be doing the ball chase yourself the whole time you use it. The balls don't just pop out and come straight back down to the funnel, most of the time they go flying across the floor, which is fun for the first minute or two, but if your child doesn't go to get them (there are only five) then the fun is over. Also, my son likes to catch and hold the ball that is about to come out of the blower, and so none of the others can come out until he moves, then they go all over the place, again. Or, if he tilts the whole thing while it's going, the balls are shot across the room (which can be funny, but once again, someone has to go get them).
I think that once he is able to run around and collect the balls and drop them back in again all on his own, it will be loads of fun, and hilarious to watch.
Oh, it's also pretty loud (the blower) but the music and sound effects are cute!
