Toys and Games Reviews of Hasbro Operation

Customer Review: Not as fun as it seems
Summary: 3 Stars

I got this for my kids last year for Chrismas. We lost a couple of the teeny, tiny pieces within the first 5 minutes of opening the box. It's too hard for kids to play without activating the buzzer, its hard for even me. They ended up purposely hitting the edges just to make the red nose and buzzer go off for a second or two. Besides the few pieces we manged to not lose, the whole thing was destroyed by the end of 7 months. It seemed to become a toy that they loved to abuse, just for its amusing response!

Customer Review: "Operation" By Shelby Maxwell
Summary: 5 Stars

I have this game at home. It teaches kids how to be very careful when doing surgery. It also teaches where most parts of the body are. There is a metal ring around the part where the platic piece goes. The child has to use only the pair of twesers given, to get the plastic piece out of the hole without letting the twesers touch the metal rim. If it does, the patiet's nose-or red lightbulb-will light up, then they have to drop the plastic piece, and start over. It's quite challenging, yet very fun!

Customer Review: If you enjoy electric shocks then this is the toy for you.

This toy has gone down hill. I remember this being a fun toy when I was a child. I purchased this game for my son for Christmas and after using it a whopping 2 times it has just collected dust. The parts are cheap, small, and difficult to remove. If you keep them in the box w/the gameboard they can easily fall out of the ends. In addition to it being almost impossible for a child to remove the parts, you get this awful shock/vibration up your arm. Where is the fun? I just don't get it.

Customer Review: Just think, that surgeon who performed your last nose job...

May have got their start right here! As one fascinated with anatomy (interpret that however you like) I got one of these for my 18th birthday and I still get a buzz from it (heh heh). Despite teaching the basics of anatomy, controlled fine movement and even patience, Operation is a whole lot of fun. Go for it! At least there is a purpose to this game, unlike say, Mousetrap! (NB How cool is it that one can write online reviews about boardgames on Amazon? What a life....)

Customer Review: A cool toy
Summary: 3 Stars

When I was about seven my best friend who lived across the street got this for Christmas. I was so jealous. I always wanted my own but my parents wouldn't buy it for me because they thought it was dumb. Well, it is, but that doesn't mean it's not a lot of fun.

The game gets a little old after awhile (at least it did for me) but the novelty of it lingers on. I've also wanted Alien autopsy for myself.

If your kid wants it, hey indulge 'em. You're only a kid once.
