Like others have said, this toy is very frustrating. I returned one already because I could not get it to hold a password. It just kept opening just by pressing the button. The new one I got is pretty much the same but I did find that you have to hold the diary at least 5 inches away from your mouth to enter the password. It is still a very frustrating thing for my daughter because sometimes it still just opens without even entering the password. So much for her "secret" diary.Customer Review: so-so voice recognition

my 6yr old daughter bought this for herself w/birthday money. SHE loves it. although she does get frustrated sometimes because the voice-recognition isn't so great. when choosing a password name, try to get your kids to choose one w/hard sounding letters, not soft ones. it seems to be better able to recognize names that have hard consonant sounds. (K, T, P, etc.) despite it's faults, she loves it. and since she's learning to spell more words, it IS very encouraging for that.Customer Review: believe the reviews

My daughter wanted this for Christmas so we got it for her. She could not get it to set a password in her voice. It would take my voice, but not hers, even my husband tried and he couldn't get it to take his voice. After trying with her for about 30 minutes, she was frustrated said that she didn't want it. So it's going back in the package and back to the store. Also, it comes with very little paper and a couple stickers - not even worth the $18 I paid on sale.Customer Review: Fun , but voice rec needs some work

This is one item my girls couldn't wait to get and try. But they are quite disappointed with how it works, rather, doesn't work. This diary is supposed to open by the owners voice and only their voice - but my husband was able to change his voice and speak like a little girl and it opened! We were playing around and my husband was just picking with the girls! We did't expect the diary to open. My girls were really sad. They really need to work on this issue.Customer Review: Not worth what it cost!

What a bummer. No matter how many times we tried we couldn't get the password to work!! Not even an adult could make it work. Plus... it's hardly a diary... it should be called "wish my password worked notebook" as there is just a tiny pad of paper inside with only 20 pieces of paper in it. For how much this thing cost it doesn't do what it was designed to do..... keep others out. The darn thing opens for anyone. Save your money!!! Don't buy this toy!!!!!
