Customer Review: Butterflies too fast!!

I disagree with many of the other reviews, I think the butterflies come out way way too fast. They blow out in a matter of 5 seconds, and it's all over. If my 4 year old catches one, she's lucky. Then they are all on the floor. The fan is not strong enough to blow up the trunk by itself, you need to hold the trunk up until it fills up with air. And it is more work to open the thing and fill it with butterflies than it is fun to play the game . . . work vs. fun ratio is definitely not worth it. I'm going to try a suggestion that someone made of making your own butterflies, and see if loading it up with more of them will help things a bit, because it's really a shame. My daughter loves the 5 seconds that she gets to experience, and the concept is fun. It would be nice if it lasted a little longer and she could actually run around catching several in her net. At least we'll have fun making butterflies!!Customer Review: PARTS MISSING

I thought this looked like a very cute game for my 2 year old for X-mas. To our disappointment the butterflies where missing so we haven't even had a chance to try it out. I contacted Hasbro my e-mail and they e-mailed me back with a response regarding a different toy entirely! We are still hopeful that we can exchange this,****I have since exchanged this at the store we bought it and now that we have all our parts, My son LOVES IT! He laughed and jumped up and down and couldn't wait for a new game to start. We did take a few inches off the trunk of the elephant (which really does help being the motor isn't that strong) and the butterflies come out over a period of 2-3 minutes--which at the age of 2 is about the right time for each game. My 2 year wants to play everyday now and does a really good job of helping pick up all the butterflies. We are glad we gave this a 2nd chance!

This is the poorest excuse for a toy I have ever seen. The commercial shows a continous fountain of butterflies overflowing from the elefant's trunk. The reality is you are given barely a handful of these butterflies (very thin, plastic/paper texture) Once you put them in and turn the game on (really just a very low low volume fan) The butterflies barely trickle out and they are all gone in about 10 seconds. The butterflies are so few and far between that my husband and I can barely catch them, let alone our daughter. It takes longer to put your net down, gather up the butterflies, but them in the elephant, put the nose back on, straighten the trunk and then flip the switch than it takes for the butterflies to come flying out. It is much more of a nuisance than it is fun. I wish I would have saved the box and receipt for return. Please don't buy this toy, it is not worth the money at all.Customer Review: Lots of fun for kids

We've had this toy for about 3 years now. It still works great for us. My kids are almost 2 and 6 and just love this game! There are constant giggles in the house when they play it. They love it when the butterflies blast out of the elephant's trunk and they get to catch them with the butterfly nets. They both love to pick the butterflies back up and put them back in the elephant. It's part of the game to them! We have also had troubles where the butterflies don't come out of the trunk, but we've discovered the solution. Only the butterflies who have lost their string around their middles get stuck in the trunk. All you have to do to fix them is to tie another piece of string around their middles and cut off the excess string. Yes, it's a little annoying, but I've found that once I tie a string around a butterfly,it doesn't come back off. The factory string isn't tied very well.

We originally had this toy for my first son and he always loved it. He's now 13 but we now have a two year old so we decided to get him one two. While he hasn't quite grasped the concept of trying to catch the butterflies in the net, he loves seeming them fly out of the elephants trunk and jumps up and down when they do.
I'm confused by some of the reviews that said it goes through batteries after playing it a few times. We've played it quite a bit these first two days and it seems to be playing as good as ever. Perhaps they are using cheap batteries. There's no substitute for Energizers.
Also, i have no trouble with playing it on carpet as someone mentioned. They must have some VERY thick plush carpet to be having trouble. While the game isn't overly educational it's fun and should help with the motor skills and hand-eye coordination of your young ones.
