Toys and Games Reviews of Hasbro DreamLife Interactive TV Plug-In GameCustomer Review: Great Game, Like Real Life Summary: 5 Stars
I got this game for my 10th birthday because i saw the commercials on Nickelodeon and begged for it. I loved it, but then (3-star durability) the wire ripped in the car door so when u turned it on, you could only hear the music. I got a new one for my 11th birthday.
It's a simple game but SUPER fun, easy to play.
You turn it on, and there's a screen that says START (where you create a new girl, LOAD (where you can choose from 2 previously caved games, and OPTIONS where you can turn the music on and off and adjust volume. The colors are bright, in orange, green, pink, purple, teal blue, etc.
if you select START, you'll create a character. You name your girl, (up to 9 letters for her name) and you choose what she looks like. Later in the game you can shop and buy clothes. Then you can choose how athletic, how brainy, how creative, how funny, and how outgoing she is. you then pick the design and color of your room. Later in the game you can go to the furniture and room accessorie stores at the mall (Furni + Roomporium) to decorate further. you're ready to play. in the beginning it takes like 10 seconds to know what to do, because it tells you and its very simple. your house consists of two rooms, the kitchen and your bedroom. theres your closet too, where you can get dressed. You can study with the books. You can go to bed earlier than it makes you. You can practice after-school activities (that you sign up for at the rec center) and you can look at your address book to read about your friends and see what upcoming homework due-dates, test dates, and parties and school dances there are. There is a school dance each season, and there are three seasons in the school year (there is no summer on dreamlife), Fall, Winter, and Spring.
In the kitchen, you do chores for money. You just click on a chore and you get the money. Sometimes, there'll be one chore to do, but sometimes there'll be five. In the kitchen you can call your friends and talk to them.
You go to school monday thru friday. There is no clock or Dreamlife time, just in the bottom left corner of the screen there is a circle that has a sun/moon. In early morning when u wake up the sun will be poking out of the left side, and in the middle of the day it'll be at the top, and when it gets to late evening it'll be at the bottom right, and will turn into a moon. When the moon gets to the top of the circle, it's bedtime. When the sun is on the left side of the circle, fully out and a tiny bit above ground, then its school time. You can miss school and come late also. you dont do anything at school, it just passes. It ends when the sun is at the right side of the circle.
Then you can make a best friend; its just like making your person, but you dont pick what their room looks like. You can go to your best friends house during the game to talk and do things together. Sometimes she will give you gifts (her shirt or her skirt/pants)
At the salon, you can change your hairstyle, make-up, and haircolor.
At school dances, if you have a really good crush, you'll dance together "like a dream come true". you can buy really expensive dresses, then sell them after the dance ;-)
At the mall, there is "Fashionably Formal" the store with really nice stuff (I usually go there for dresses for upcoming school dances), funky footwear (shoe store), alley kat (accesorie store), fab fad (accesorie store), furni (furniture and room decor store), Roomporium (furniture and room decor store), alternation (clothes store), miss misc (accesorie store) activitoes (shoe store), and Josi's (my favorite store ever a clothes store). theres also a mall hangout where you can talk to other people.
at parties, they're at your best friends house, you can mingle with other people. it raises your "friends" bar.
you need2 get good grades too! study and work on homework whenever your address book says you have an upcoming test or homework due day. when you ace a test, your parents will give you money for something like a tv, computer, or a phone for your room.
for the rest, just buy the game and you will enjoy it! if you have any questions, comment here, I check very frequently A-T-T so dont hesitate. i will answer any question. i'm a dreamlife expert.
Customer Review: Just Like A Dream Summary: 4 Stars
This is real fun. I just got this yesterday. I am 10 years old. Now,who said your friends say the same thing over and over? Some 1000000000 year old? Your friends do not say things over and over. But sometimes you'll say,"That's a cool ______." and they don't even have it. Like say a necklace. They aren't even wearing one. You can have more than one boyfriends. At dances well, yay, they wear "casual" clothes. But the game makers don't have all the time...never mind. I'm sure they'll make a sequel. You get a LOT of money for doing easy stuff. Now that's the life. They should give you money. For the price of formal dresses, shoes,Josi's(can't live without that shop),Alternations(cool place),and Furni. To the straight point you create what you would like to look like and a best friend. You can get more friends by talking. You can also get (a) boyfriend(s). You have 3 bars. Friends, which you get filled by talking to people. Fashion, which you get by trying on clothes and buying clothes. And finally, Lifestyle. To get lifestyle up you should sing up for activities. But for the downside you can't watch T.V or play the the videogame(in the game). I want good grades to actually use the the things the grades got me. It's hard studying, maintaing bars, playing activities, doing choirs,AND shopping when you have a bedtime. On Saturday and Friday I think I should stay up until as long as I please. And you can't see where your going(not literly, silly). If you say "Let's go _________." You can't see you and your friend going there. Or if you say "I have tickets to _____" and then they say "Cool. Let's go ____." You never get to. All you basically do in this game is shop. Not that that's a bad thing it's just I excpected more. I've been waiting to get this since 2005. I got this game twice(I guess they know what I like). I was like, Oh great this is the best game ever. Even better than Animal crossing wild world,sims2,and nintendogs comibined! WRONG! These games are better. Don't get me wrong. This is still a pretty good game. But it got boring for me around day 10. I thought all those other reviewers were craazy when they said it was boring. Boy was I kidding myself. It those get boring. You should get Animal Crossing:Wild World for DS or the Sims 2 for your computer. Or even Nintendogs for DS(even though it's not a human simulation). Whatever you like is what you should get. Overall this game is O.K. Please don't let this review affect your decision. If you found at least 3 values that appeal to you,Buy It.
Customer Review: PLEASE READ THIS IT WOULD BE NICE. Summary: 5 Stars
PLEASE READ THIS IT MIGHT SEEM LONG BUT IT IS WORTH IT*Puts hand on Bible* this is the truth and nothing but the truth. My mom got me Dream Life. I am 12 ½ It is fun and very addicting. It will be good for one persons money and a waste to others. Before you buy it for yourself or you daughter make sure that you or your daughter want it so bad that you will clean bathrooms for 1 whole month. The reason why some of these people are giving bad reviews is because they didn't want it as bad as the 5 star reviews. Here is a run down of the game: The game control has a, b, and c buttons to help you answer your friends questions and help you decide and scroll down what you want to do. It has yes and no keys which help you decide where to go or what to do. It also has four arrows and an enter key to help you do the rest. You can chose to go to school -you can find a job and talk to 1 friend per visit, you don't go into classes it says you enter school, and then make a comment on how the day was- Mall - has stores where you can get clothes, and stuff for your room-, Rec. Center -all you do here is click and sign up for sports, some sports are dancing, b-ball, baseball, soccer, cheerleading, skating, and swimming-, Salon - you can get your hair and makeup done there-, your house - you can study, practice any sports you signed up for at the rec. center, do chores (a bit price I might add), and call friends-, and best friends house - can talk to your best friend, you can make her like you made you but you can't design her room-. You have 90 days to play the school year (30 days a season). It could take 2 hours to forever its all how you play the game. AND NO you don't have a boyfriend you have a crush. He never asks you. You just like him if you want to. I have been putting this game away for 3 days so I can still enjoy it. While it is hidden I read a book or play on the computer or watch T.V. or anything else. This will help me enjoy this game even more. And it will last longer. And one more thing it doesn't eat batteries like some people say. You have to change it every 5 days if you play it a lot.
~Bekah~ post if you liked this.
Customer Review: Great family game Summary: 5 Stars
I play this game with my daughter, and I am absolutely shocked by how much I enjoy it, especially since I don't like computer games. At first, I played just to be "helpful," but I quickly found it so much fun that now I turn on the game even when my daughter is not playing. A couple hints:
1)To get to a dance, on the evening of the dance, exit your room and move around to the different buildings until you find the dance. Though you don't get to actually see yourself dance, you get to "mingle" and you get friendship points much faster at a party or dance than in the rest of the game. 2)If your wardrobe fills up, sell things in your closet. You need room for the next seasons' clothes anyway. 3)Just before homework or a test is due, "study" two or three times, then the parents will give you money to buy things like radios and computers. 3)Take a job as a newswriter and later you will have the opportunity for higher paying jobs like editor. 4)Get crushes by saying that you like a boy when a friend asks. Then you can "dance" with that boy at a dance and get friendship points really quickly. 5)Having clothes in your wardrobe and friends with five stars translates into more points when you start your day. This makes it easier to get the highest points possible for the day since you can focus on lifestyle instead.
I've played this game through to the end once now, and I'm finding that what I enjoy now is different from what I enjoyed early on. At first, I just wanted to acumulate all the pretty dresses. Now I enjoy mixing and matching separates. I've made some pretty cool outfits. And I love getting trophies for various activities. I'm loving this game. If you find it boring, you might try looking around a little more at all the different things that can be done. This game is really fun!
Customer Review: It's Okay Summary: 2 Stars
Dream life is okay. It is really fun at the beginning. When i got it, i came home and i was all excited and i played it for one hour. It didn't run out of battery quickly. In fact, i've had it for 4 months now and played it alot and it hasn't run out of battery once. Anyway, it is really fun and exciting for the first week and maybe the second, but after a while, it gets really boring. You might think that i am lying because the commercial looked really good, but i made the same mistake that you are or that you are making for your child. I read all of the reviews and i thought "Oh, whatever" to the ones that didn't say it was awesome. I only listened to the ones that said it was an awesome game. (Probobaly written by either Hasbro employees or people who haven't bought the game yet). Anyway, there is no educational value whatsoever. You press "go to school" once you are in school, you press a button and it says "school is over". This might sound fun, but it isn't. If you invite your friend somewhere to do something, it just says "you went bowling with Jake" or something like that. Kids shouldn't be doing these activities in a dream world, they should be out there doing them! Everything you cand do in the game such as doing sports, doing homework, studying for tests, making friends, and doing chores, you can do them all out in the real world. and trust me, you will get a much better reward in the real world then doing them on your TV set. Also, you do chores and get a rediculous amount of money. if you was the dishes, feed the dog, set the table, sweep the kitchen, or watert the plant, you get 10-20 dollars! Kids shouldn't expect that in real life! So don't make the same mistake i did. DON'T buy "Dream Life" because this is no dream. It's real!
