Toys and Games Reviews of Hasbro Baby Alive Hispanic DollCustomer Review: little girls love it! Summary: 5 Stars
My daughters (ages 5 and 2 1/2) were given these dolls for Christmas. They love them and play with them every day, especially the 5-year-old. I think the littlest one may be a little too young to really enjoy her fully, but she plays with her when her big sister plays with hers.
I'm glad I didn't let some of the reviews discourage me from getting these. All the problems people are having with the limited English can be very easily remedied, if they read the directions fully. First of all, you must switch the doll from "display" mode, by moving the little switch on her back. The doll comes in the mode used so that people can try her out in the store. In this mode, she will only say one or two things in English. One you move the switch, you just have to "wake her up" and hold the button util she's speaking English. From that point on, she should speak English, even after waking up. However, if you turn her completely off via the back switch, you will have to switch her back to English by holding the bracelet down.
I really have not had a problem, and certainly don't have to spend time interpreting what she's saying. That's why they make directions - it tells about the display mode right on the front.
Customer Review: Not for toddlers... Summary: 3 Stars
I bought this Baby Alive doll for my almost 2-yr old daughter last Christmas. I bought the hispanic one b/c my daughter is bi-racial and the hispanic doll looked most like her. Unfortunately, the doll barely speaks any english, even after pressing the bracelet to change from spanish to english. My 4 year old son had more fun watching it pee all over the bed. Both kids pulled the dolls hair straight out of it's head, and eyelashes out as well.
They also dropped it a few times and after that the doll began talking and making gestures even when they were not playing with it (spooky, lol). My husband finally got so annoyed with it he threw it away when the kids and I were out.
This Christmas I will be getting her the Hispanic Baby Alive Wet's N Wiggles, because that doll is 12 inches long, which is 3 inches smaller than the Original, and weighs only 1 1/2 lbs, as opposed to the Original Baby Alives 13 inches, and should be good for a smaller toddler/child. Also the Hispanic Wet's N Wiggles doesn't speak spanish, it only coos and plays.... which should be good for us.
Customer Review: Great toy, even when I was a kid I loved it! Summary: 4 Stars
This doll is all my daughter wanted. I saw the hispanic one and snatched it up right away since it was the last one on the shelf. My daughter is half Filipino so I tend to buy her the hispanic looking dolls. They look so much like her. I am GLAD the doll speaks English since my daughter is NOT spanish and does not speak the language (expcept counting to 10 in Spanish) I did not need a spanish speaking toy. I think many of us moms buy who have brown hair & eyed children lean towards the hispanic dolls so it would be a dis-service to us if these dolls only spoke Spanish. We just bought it so I can't rate how durable, only time will tell. I gave it an average on educational because it does not teach spelling or counting but she has plenty of other toys and school for that. It does spark imaginative play (away from the TV) which I think is VITAL to small children. When buying a toy like this I think it's only common sense to buy extra diapers so I don't find that to be a negative.
Customer Review: so adorable! Summary: 4 Stars
This baby doll is so adorable! I like it that Hasbro make this doll available from light skin to dark skin.
My daughter just receive this for Christmas and she have so much fun with it. I read many reviews how the doll can get dirty and hard to clean by feeding her food so I just tell my little girl not to feed the doll. She doesn't complain, and the doll doesn't whine that she's gotta have food. The bottle will do fine. The bottle sucking sound so real; don't need to put liquid in the bottle (pretending drinking with empty bottle is fine and much easier plus no mess to clean up).
Also, I read some reviews complaining about her having thin hair, which I do agree that she doesn't have a lot of hair. However, I just tell my little girl not to brush the doll's hair.
I also bought the Playmate Amazing McKayla (ethnic doll) for my daughter, but she don't like it as much as this doll (Hasbro Baby Alive Hispanic doll).
Customer Review: My 4 year old loves this doll Summary: 4 Stars
I got this doll for my 4 year old for Christmas. she wanted the Hispanic doll because she says it is "the cute one". I think it looks more babylike than the other two. She loves to play with her, especially feeding her food and her bottle. We haven't had an problems with her eating her food and you just need to slightly squeeze the bottle. We bought Pampers preemie diapers and they fit great and are much cheaper. Baby alive also fits into preemie clothes perfectly. I do have a few complaints though...the first time I wiped off her face the paint on her lips came off, her hair looks terrible unless you are far away b/c it is so thin, and she needs some more phrases to say (no she's not in trial mode). Overall, I think that this is definitely the most life like baby doll on the market right now and my daughter thinks she is the best toy ever.
